Parent drop off

Hi - my 16 year old daughter has been let down by her travelling companions and will be going to the festival on her own for the day on Saturday. Does anyone know at what point parents can drop off? I'd like to park at the Green car park and get the boat up with her to the site and then I guess she can meet up with mates who are there for the whole weekend at one of the places where you pick up wristbands? Any ideas,help, advice? Cheers

The Green car park is also the drop-off point but if you want to wander down to the site you'll obviously have to park rather than drop off, it'll be about £8 without a parking ticket bought in advance (if there are still spaces available).

Depending on how well you know Reading it'll probably be cheaper and easier to park in a public car park for a couple of hours. The train station car park is only a few minutes walk from the Green car park so you can park there and wander over to get the boat or just get the shuttle bus from the station. Alternatively Garrard Street car park is opposite the station the other side from the river, a slightly longer walk to the shuttle boat or again get the bus from the station.

Great - thanks for this...do you need a festival ticket to get on the boat ?

That's a very good question, I've always walked and never used the boat so don't actually know.

Thanks for getting back to me - any idea who I could ask? Is there a festival security team or something?

I can't really remember if there's someone there organising the queing that you can ask to be honest, it might be that you start queueing and then one of you nips forward and asks the crew when they're mooring ready for the next load.

Hopefully someone who's got the boat before will read this and can let you know if they check for tickets.

Alternatively it isn't that long a walk, probably 15 minutes to the red gate and 25 to the green gate and it's all along the river so it's direct.

It's been a few years since I last got the boat, but no-one ever checked my ticket or anything.
