under 18 getting in alcohol

Right i'm going with a few mates and we're all 17, 1 of us could probably pass for 18 and the rest easily look 16 so may get away with being 18 when there's a big crowd at the gate etc

Looking to take a crate of beer each probably, obviously you can hide booze in your bag but that limits how much you can take and is a pain in the arse to carry!

Would we be able to walk into the campsite carrying the booze? Do the security guards care provided you don't look like you're not even old enough to be there let alone drink?

Preferably people with experience and don't even bother saying "you shouldn't be drinking if you're underage so don't bring it" because its just naive and lets face it, its a festival

Why not ask someone who is old enough in the queue to carry it in? I've done this a few times for people who are not old enough with alcohol and for people to get in free at festivals.

Find some folk who look like V veterans, doubt they'll be hard to spot - sunglasses, hiking boots, cargo shorts, flannel shirt and a bucket hat ;) and ask them if they mind carrying in your beer, and in return you'll carry in their camping gear, chairs, tents etc.

Got mine taken from me at IOW last year went to the shop to buy more gave it for a mate to take through and it got taken again. Lucky someone saw what was going on showed ID and said we were with him so they let us through! I'd suggest asking someone else to take it through better to get told to f off by a chav than have your drink taken. trust me 30 beers and a bottle of jager gone.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
