I was going to build in the caveat that I'm also prone to failure. However, I thought the poster might take it in good faith that I meant well. Obviously they haven't and I'm now a spelling Nazi. It's a bit tough to take on board but better than being a little tit in my opinion.

Thanks for pointing that one out. Have just ordered myself one as I think I'll need a greater capacity this year than my 70L one. Not sure how it can be too big as you don't have to fill it up if you don't need to.

I use this:

The first time was for Glasto2011 and the 3-week Eurotrip I had before that, had it filled to the brim but this pack really wins on ergonomics - The weight sits comfortably around the hips, had no problem at all running after buses and trains carrying all 27kg I had in it.

Yes, I went ahead with the purchase. I've seen nicer looking rucksacks but reckon it's sturdy enough to tackle the job in hand. I'll not be putting too many heavy things in it anyway as I've got a trolley for that stuff.

You could always buy some of the bungee straps that they sell in Poundland and use them for lashing the tent and roll mat to the rucksack. I have only used the trolley at Bestival so far and that was because I was carrying in boxes of alcohol for someone else. I'll have to use it again at Glastonbury this year because I'll be transporting the alcohol, mixers and a large block of ice for me and my better half. If I didn't need to do that then I'd easily transport what I need with the 120 litre bag and carry my pop up tent in my hand.

I need a new rucksack, I want a lightweight one which means going for something horribly expensive. But I also plan on going travelling over winter so I need one that will last and suit a short(ish) person like me.

Considering purchasing this rucksack off eBay but I haven't a clue what I am doing when it comes to these things: -

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
