Tonight (9th July) at The Old Blue Last, Shoreditch is the first of the LodeStar Festival 2013 warm up parties. Doors 8pm and Entry is FREE! Line-up:

Roxanne De Bastion - stage 9pm

“Folk riot girrrl” Roxanne De Bastion is an incredibly talented singer-songwriter born and raised in Berlin but currently based in London. Her debut album ‘The Real Thing’, produced by Gordon Raphael of The Strokes fame, is inspired by a mix of Roxanne’s favourite artists, from the Beatles to Paul Simon to Regina Spektor, and in fact comparisons with Spektor, as well as with Moldy Peach Kimya Dawson, have been made. Every song on the record has a unique sound though and we can also find nods to the White Stripes and Nick Drake in there. Some described The Real Thing as a “warm spring day in sonic form” and we couldn’t agree more.

Paper Aeroplanes - stage 10pm

Paper Aeroplanes are firm LodeStar favourites, we love their mix of gentle melancholia and breezy pop.

They are a regular fixture on Radio 2 and their debut album was described as “the finest album to come out of Wales since Rockferry” by BBC Wales.Their new mini-album ‘We Are Ghosts’ is out now and is receiving the same critical acclaim.

Much to our delight, Paper Aeroplanes have agreed to play a one off stripped down show with just guitars and cello, which is surely gonna turn our festival launch party into something really special. If you've missed their recent sold out show at Bush Hall,or if you'd like to see another side of the band, you should really make your way to the Old Blue Last!

Plus DJ's

Also don't forget to pick up your discount codes for LodeStar tickets!

We hadn't been to Lodestar before, even though it's local and this was its fifth year, so regret not having made the effort before, as it was the most awesome weekend, great music, great beer, camping and fantastic weather, what more could you want.

By turns truly chill with bands like Xsara, Candy Says and Caracal and then really rocking with Deaf Havana and more. Starlight Theatre were a highlight (imagine an Aussie Billy Gibbons but with George Michael's voice and the band playing U2-style indie rock). There was also the Geordie lads - Face the Ocean. Superb.

Oh by the way, those are my photos from the weekend up above and more here:
