just wondering what the general consensus is on the cost for vehicle parking charges?

i was originally lead to believe, when it was first introduced (2003 i think) that the charge was to discourage the use of your own vehicle, and to encourage the use of public transport!

dont get me wrong, i'm not moaning about the £25 charge for next year, by any any stretch of the imagination,and i will pay it! but part of me feels that the £25 is a pure cash feed for the festival, my van carries everything that 10+ people need for the entire weekend, and i would never opt for the coach over it.

next years charge give's me the impression that the motorist is being taken advantage of though, something i thought the whole ethos of glastonbury was against!

The Glastonbury ethos is not "if it's bad for me it can't be the Glastonbury ethos".

The motorist is being discouraged by a higher car parking charge, for the benefit of the environment.

You can't get closer to the Glastonbury ethos than that.

why dont just get a camper van tic and divey up between 10 people and use your van if its that good . saves sleeping in a tent old son .£25 for 5 days isnt to bad if it was to reach £40/£45 then id say they were taking the p...

You can only take a purpose made live-in on the camper van sites - they won't let on vans where people have simply hired/bought vans & thrown a mattress in the back.

Never fancied the campervan fields as it seems out of the way, plus the fact, we go in a group of 50+, and part of the festival for me is sitting around a fire by our tents until the early hours!

Like i said, i will gladly pay the £25, its betwwen 3 of us, so its not really a big deal, but i do feel that the increase is definately penalising the motorist!

The 2009 pass was a tenner! That 150% increase over the last 3 festivals seems abit excessive to me, and if the point you're trying to make neil, is true, can we assume that tobacco and alcohol will be unavailible at the festival next year?
