Green Man Festival

Hi all,

Going to the Green Man Festival this weekend for the first time. My only festival experience is the last 4 years at Glastonbury and was wondering if anyone had done them both?

I understand it's an arena festival, but less commercial than most. How does it compare to Glastonbury (other than being a lot smaller!), is there plenty of entertainment throughout the days and night?

Hoping it will be a good festival to put me on to G2013!

Not sure if you've seen it or not but there's a specific Green Man thread on the section 'other UK festivals' on the efests site. I've not looked at it but it may be of interest to you.

I’ve done a lot of festivals in my time and Green Man is in my all time top 5. Its amazing, I’ve only ever worked so not sure on ultra late night stuff (don’t think it will match Glasto on that front) but there are things going on after the main stage shuts. Also the main stage is in front of a terrace lawn which is amazing. However it is also probably the wettest festival I have ever worked at, we used to jokingly call it Brown Man so beware. That said a lot of the infrastructure is permanent so you can get round easily ect. As I say even the muddy ones were some of the best shows I’ve ever been to.

I am also going. Its a great festival. really chilled. Am taking my family to their first ever festival. very family friendly. Its no were near the size of Glasto but makes up in a fantastic atmosphere and good music, ciders and food.

We have been to Green Man a few years ago, and I'm a glastonbury regular too. It was a lovely festival, very chilled out, good atmosphere. Perhaps a slightly older audience bit still fairly hedonistic. You'll recognise lots of Glastonbury there, just on a smaller scale. I remember watching Spiritualized on the main stage (possibly the most stunning location for a stage btw) and it started to rain so I nipped back to the tent for a coat....I was there and back in the time it took for the whole song and I could hear it all the time too! Good food, great beer, plenty to see and explore, just a bit of a shame it was very very wet too that year. I'd go back.

just got back from Green Man and as usual it was a fantasitic weekend. Weather was Welsh and the mud in places whilst impressive was Glasto lite, not proper mud that we get down on the Farm. Hope you guys had as much fun as we did and that you got out of the car park this morning without having to be towed.

Yep, its wishy washy watery mud at Green Man, not big thick sticky gloopy mud of our favourite Somerset farm! But at Green Man you also don't get that wierd sensation of bouncing when the top layer of mud has dried out but its still liquid underneath! haha!
