Hello lovely Downloaders...

After 20 odd years of doing Glastonbury, it's the first time for me at Download, so hopefully I'm going to benefit from the wealth of knowledge on these pages.

1. Camping. I've had a quick gander at the site map 2011. I assume little will change for this year. Camping seems to be split into coloured areas. Now being a 39 year old duffer, and in need of a bit of sleep, please can you let me know the difference between the sites - and possibly recommend one. Are the sites as rammed as Glasters? We are planning on arriving on Thursday night.

2. How far is the walk from the car park to the campsites?

3. I am assuming they have no issue with you carrying all your stuff with the assistance of a trolley?

4. Booze? Limits?

5. Finally, thank you. Any further tips or pointers gratefully received.

Sites are pretty full, however last year they did hold fields back until Friday morning, so there was an opportunity to move to a more spacious area.

2. How far is the walk from the car park to the campsites?

Far too far. 30mins I'd say unladen. With a load of stuff 45-60mins

3. I am assuming they have no issue with you carrying all your stuff with the assistance of a trolley?

Nope in fact they also do a hire out system.

4. Booze? Limits?

As much as you like I think, normal no glass restrictions etc. But not allowed your own drink into the music arena.

5. Finally, thank you. Any further tips or pointers gratefully received.

It's worth checking out the comedy tent in the village on the Thursday night, some great acts on there last year, you can take your own drink in too, but you have to decant into plastic cups provided outside the tent.

i know, But its only 25 days(tomorrow) i'd just like some in indication this rain may go away in time for DL! its killing my excitement man! i just don't fancy having last years Sunday weather for the whole 5 days y'know? but suppose i'll worry about that closer to the time

I think the Sunday was really bad because the weather on the other days was so good. Hot a sunny throughout, because it was just Sunday it was probably worse, what with it being the last day and the previous 4 days alcohol catching up. A bit of an anti-climax. I guess if it rained all weekend at least people would be prepared and have gotten over it by day 1.

Ok. Can be massively persuaded to turn up on Thursday morning! Thankyou! I shall see you for a beer or three.

After years of Glasters, a poncho is more important than a tent! Well a little bit!!

So, campsite colours! Any advice to which is the crazy party site and which is the quieter site?

Blue is the party camp, the futher away from the campsite village the quieter the camping area is, is the rule.

Blue and Red are the biggest and the camps with the most going on, but come after midnight we head into camp village and stay there until it dies off, at least a couple of nights we're out until 5am

Hey guys, haven't been on here in ages! Just wondering if any of you have got the shuttle bus from Derby before? It's gonna be my first year using it so was wondering how often they are, how much it is etc?

They are very regular and this year it's £8.00 return. The worst thing is coming back as a couple of years ago they limited the service for some reason and there was quite a wait, hopefully it'll be all good this year again though!

Just a quick question, does anyone know if you can upgrade from 3 to 5 day camping onsite?

I had an exam on the Friday morning but it's been moved, but I've already received my ticket :/

Having been to Glastonbury and Download a similar amount of times you will do far less walking at Download than Glastonbury.Anyone who has never been to Glastonbury the walk between the Pyramid and other stage is about the equivalent of walking from the village to the Arena(and people on here moan about that).

The walk from the car park to camping is ok,

The only downside is you can not take your own drinks in to the arena.
