Did we have a server crash?

yeah ... I'd ordered a memory upgrade for the main server (there's three used for efests), so the server going off line was planned.

But what should have been a 10 minute job turned into a nightmare when that server wouldn't restart with the new memory in, then wouldn't restart with the same memory as it had before it was taken down, and then wouldn't restart at all. ;)

So a new server had to be found and then the hardware setup the same as the old server, and then the hard disks moved across from the old server.

It was a right pain ... but the good side is that I've now got faster hardware (the old server was about 5 years old) along with the increased memory.

So the forums record for the most number of people on the forums at once should get broken for the 2nd time this year on Monday evening when Reading & Leeds gets announced. :)
