Festival Rucksacks!

Hello all,

Thought I'd join up and get some ideas and reviews from people who have had good racksacks and what they think is good to buy.

Basically i went to Reading Festival last year and me being a noob (festival virgin) i didn't think it would rain so much! STUPID I NO! So this year i'm looking to get a rucksack that would be good for carrying the usual stuff, clothes, food, drink, etc.. and obviously keeping sort of ish-dry!

I've seen a lot of threads about bags but alot of the links have died or sold out and i'm looking to get one pretty soon for Reading Festival this year.

I'm about 5'9 and can handle a good amount of weight! (Yes i know how long the walk is!)

Hopefully you can all help me and that this thread is in the right place!

Cheers.

Go to Sportsworld (Sportsdirect online) & get a Karrimor rucksack. Fine for festivals although you'd probably want to spunk some more money if you went travelling. Most rucksacks aren't waterproof but if it's just rain you want to keep the bag dry from, most come with a cover that fits snuggly over the bag.

Got this for £40 & sorts me for 6 days at Glastonbury from Sportsworld.

Got my argos 100 litre jobby for £25 last year, decided I needed the space.

I use it when travelling by train often stuffed full and obviously at festivals, not let me down, it's adjustable, comfortable.

For really short people it'll be a bit of a high centre of gravity (especially if you pack it wrong) but at 5'9" you should be fine.

It's this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3400140/c_1/1|category_root|Sports+and+leisure|14419152/c_2/2|14419152|Camping|14419397/c_3/3|cat_14419397|Rucksacks|14419410.htm which was on sale.

Relatively waterpoof from the outset, I stuck a binbag on it as the day progressed last year at reading (coaches were late so we were stood about in the rain for an hour and a half before heading to the festival itself) it kept my stuff dryer than peanut coated weetabix.

As far as tensile strength goes I've filled to the brim it with crates of beer, a tad heavy but it wasn't stressed.

The Argos/Pro Action range are perfectly fine for festival use, you only use it going in & leaving (or perhaps for a beer run to Tesco), they are pretty cheap too.

A tip I use when going to Glasto is to put all your clothes in lots of plastic shopping bags. It makes finding different items easier, will add a bit more protection from the rain, you can carry your booze around in them & you can use them to sit on when it gets muddy.

I fill mine up with with as many clothes as possible so I can use the bag as a pillow, it protects/hides anything inside & if it does rain then I have plenty of spare dry clothes.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
