Gaffer tape residue on tent

During the heatwave last year I bought a couple of silver survival blanked things from Joe Bananas. However, lacking any clothers pegs, I decided to gaffer tape them to my tent.

When I removed the tape on the Monday morning there was a good bit of sticky residue left on the tent. At the time I just stuffed the tent away and forgot about it till, er, this morning.

I've just unpacked the tent for the first time since and it doesn't seem too bad. The stickiness isn't that sticky any more and the tent should go up ok.

I was worried it would have coagulated into an impossible-to-pull apart mess, but actually the opposite seems to have happened.

So, if there's anyone knowledgeable about this stuff, two questions:

1. Is there a good way to remove the remaining residue from the tent?

2. Will the tape have affected how waterproof the tent is? I'll probably spray it with waterproofer before we go, but I definitely DO NOT want a leaky tent*

* Obviously I know it's not going to rain this year, but in my experience the only way to ensure this is to be over-prepared for a monsoon.

Some of them look OK to use on a tent to me, especially if you are going to re-waterproof it. Maybe not the peanut butter though.
