Getting to Glastonbury on Wednesday evening

Anyone had any experience with getting to glastonbury on the wednesday evening?

I'm in court (as a witness!) on the wednesday afternoon in Manchester, and have got to find a way of getting down from there.

Does anyone know how many trains get in to castle cary? I should be able to get to Bristol for about 9ish. What are my chances from there? Anyone know what the queues are like at the gates at that sort of time? My main worries are ended up being stranded and not being able to get there on wednesday, missing valuable glastonbury time!

We drove down after work from London in 2005, so must have arrived around 10pm. Queued on the road from just the other side of pilton (hardly anything) and didn't wait at the gates at all.

I'd say a lot more people arrive as early on weds as possible now, so if anything it might be quieter.

Can't advise on the trains I'm afraid - look on raileasy or similar?

There is THIS BUS SERVICE which if you scroll to the bottom you will see go from Bristol Temple Meads to (the environs of) Glastonbury Town. NB, this is a regular daily service and nothing to do with the festival.

Take note the last 3 buses only go to Wells but you said you can get to Temple Meads for around 9pm. So catch the 9.20 to Wells and then get a taxi at the bus station to site. Much cheaper than a taxi from Brizzle. If you get taxi numbers sorted in advance, you might also be able to arrange a set price in advance with a particular company.

Map of Wells Look how close it is to the G.

Travel well and good luck.

    • Good catch this. Used on the Main stage on Saturday like a really cheap alternative.   Cracking little day though. A few Belgian acts to start the day (Atomic Orchestra, Kids with Buns, Selah Sue), some UK/IE midsized bands to end the afternoon (Gurriers, Wunderhorse, Wet Leg) and then an evening of Deftones, Florence and Underworld.   Can’t wait to be there and (at least try to) make the most of it.
    • I would be surprised if they don't, given 2022 was the twentieth I imagine next year is going to be pushed as the 25th anniversary so having the most local big name artist possible headline seems natural. Maybe SFA are being saved for then too?
    • I’d be incredibly surprised if she was in the headline conversation at all. At best I could say a high Pyramid slot but I reckon maybe Other headliner against a rock act like Fender or even Other sub (where I have her in my predictions). I’d say Gracie Abrams is pulling similar if not better numbers to Tate and she was third down on the Other last year.
    • I dont think headliner. Other stage maybe
    • Sophie Williams (journalist and Mercury Prize judge) was on Huw Stephens' roundtable last week, said she'd love to see Overmono headline Green Man. Does feel like it's bound to happen. 2027 is surely on the cards seeing as they're about to release a new album
