Going to be trying something along these lines for the festival. I was wondering whether anyone has just used flavoring syrup? I mean... its essentially what boiled sweets are. Even something like milkshake syrup?

I start mine this week. Last year I did 3 fruit ones, Blueberry, Cherry, Blackberry. I used mainly frozen fruits on all of them and had tio sweeten them all to some extent to help bring out the flavours. I've realised I didn't post up a post-fest analysis of how these went down but basically the least popular was Blackberry, The cherry was lovely but would have benefited from leaving the pips in I feel as this would have brought out a deeper flavour. The best by far was the blueberry. Really, it was utterly gorgeous and I highly recommend it. To make it I took one 70cl bottle of Smirnoff, added this two punnets of frozen blueberries (from Morrisons, about £2 each, weighed around 600g IIRC). Mash up some of the berries a bit and added about 3oz of Fructose (fructose gives a cleaner sweetness that compliments the fruit I think). I left that to steep for about 2 months, decanted and bottle. I took all my vodkas out with me everyday and we would pick people at random and give out free shots, great fun.

This year I'm making the following:

Blueberry & Vanilla (same recipe as last year but with the addition of a vanilla pod or two)

Maple Syrup & Pecan (personally I think this is going to end up like alcoholic butterscotch... yummy, not too sure how the pecan flavour will come out, may do it with Hazelnuts instead)

Lime & Coconut (I recently bought a coconut scraper and need to try this out on it)

OR

Spiced Mango (I get these great Pakistani Alphonso mangos near me, that with a little chilli, cinnamon, allspice and perhaps some cardamom)

If you're going to do a jellybean one then I'd thoroughly recommend using some Jelly Belly gourmet flavours, the buttered popcorn & toasted marshmallow would be gorgeous together.

Im gna try this for the first time! Sherbet lemons/ Cherry Drops and Glacier mints separately. Does it matter about vodka quality or should i just get the cheapest? and how many grams of sweets per 70cl bottle? Going to make 3 separate vodka mixes out of 2 bottle i thing so roughly 50cl each.

Ive just purchased some WHAM bars to make flavoured vodka. Are you meant to squeeze the bars into the vodka bottle or pour the vodka in to a more suitable container? Sorry for being stupid just want to get it right!!

Wonder if anyone has any suggestions, I have made my first batch of flavoured vodkas and after experimenting with different sweets made up some half litre bottles of the ones I liked. The problem I have is that i have made up a bottle using lemon sherberts which tasted great in my testers bottles but now I have made up a 1/2 litre using smirnoff it tastes like cold lemsip  Any suggestions of what to add or mix with to prevent me chucking it away!

Well i made some foxes fruits vodka about a week ago, only took a day to dissolve, but im not really sure if i like it or not  but it does have a nice colour despite putting random ones in. I'd say its quite nice i guess. need more inspiration for more now though.

I think it'l be creme eggs next, or maybe just chocolate :D

Does anyone know how long banana vodka would keep for? (thats the only reason im holding back on the nanas.

when doing Jelly baby in the past Ive bought 4 or 5 packets and seperated the colours so it doesnt go a nasty browny colour.

Seperate the vod into empty 500ml bottles and add a colour to each bottle.

Found that the orange and red go well together and so do the yellow and greean, Also the green and the black on their own are loverley :D

Ive got two brewing at the moment started them a week ago. I plucked for wham bar vodka and highland toffee bar vodka, the highland toffee bar one smells gorgeous and i think its a dead cert to be coming with me (havent tasted it yet but boy its tempting) but the wham bars seemed to dissolve way too easily and it just looks like weak blackcurrent squash. Thought 4 bars would be enough but maybe a top up is required!

Well, I have been inspired by you lot into making my own sweetie vodka. Have gone for Wham Bars and Skittles. I ended up putting in 10 Wham bars in a 70cl bottle, as 5 was too weak. Blimey, it was a messy job! Smells gorgeous though :P Opted for the orange, red and purple Skittles, and that is really nice! Just hope I can keep it 'til next month!

We did some skittles vodka 3 bags of skittles 6 panda pop bottles and just topped them up with vodka(sainsburys value), the skittles seemed to all but dissolve over a period of days and they seem to taste ok.Might try some drum stick or cola bottle vodka next.
