Not just them. 'In a nuclear attack on London the destruction of Clapham Junction will entail London Transport providing a shuttle bus service between the London Centre and the undamaged part of the railway line south of Clapham. It is estimated that 500 buses could be withdrawn for the removal of the homeless. This could cause severe delay in getting workers home.'

The most commercially successful film produced by Hammer Film Studios was the feature film version of 'On The Buses'.

Take the ages of everyone who has ever died and add them up.

Take the ages of everyone alive today and add them up.

The second number would be higher than the first number. Apparently. It certainly seems more plausible than the other one.

hmmm ... not so sure.

Suppose that estimate of 100bn people who have died is correct, and that there are 7bn people alive today. For the sum of the ages of people alive today to be greater than the sum of the people's death ages, it would mean that the average life expectancy across history would have to be 1/15th of the average age of the current world's population. I find that very unlikely

agreed. especially when now you still get a lot of infant deaths in third world countries. or developing or whatever they're called now. plus you're counting the deaths of people who have died in the past 50 years where expectancy was hardly 40 in developed countries. sceptical.co.uk

The ratio has been approximated in this thread at 6 billion out of 90 billion people being alive right now. That's 1:15.

So out of the 90 billion dead people, you're saying that a huge number were infants and that a massive proportion didn't even make it to 40.

Do you see?

Even if the average age of a person today was 50, which due to the bottom heavy demographic of the third world is imo a vast over exageration, that would mean that the average age of death over human history would be 3.5 years

don't buy it

It's 67, already googled it.

Just played with my spreadsheet at work I can't get the figures to work on 67 x 7 billion (although that was be too high as not all people are old yet) it would be 469 billion compared to if the appox. of 106 billion that lived averaged out to live for 10 years it would still be over at 1060 billion (or 1 trillion?) so people how use to live need an average of 4 years.

OK, so with those figures you can approximate the total time lived by the dead to be about 550 billion, say. That would mean the average age of a person alive today is 78!

    • It was great, but I don't know why they continue to play Wide Lovely Eyes and Rings of Saturn, which are the weakest of the tracks off both PTSA and ST. Well, I do. It's cos they're about Suzie, so he can sing what he wants. They're the low points of the set. The rest is ace.
    • I didn't this time, but I've seen them before and just because you saw both that night doesn’t mean you can compare them. The Stones were great, but.you didn't think so and you went somewhere else looking for a good time and you found it. For whatever reason you didn't like it, but you were an outlier and all the reviews said they were great.
    • Annie Lennox could be the one to unite the whole forum, nobody has a bad word to say about her, even noted curmudgeon Skip 😄 I'd probably even amble along for a bit meself, and i'm also a miserable sod
    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27, or that's what I've been told. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, i.e a verbal agreement for 2028, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
