Rather than say what you would do to potential thieves, perhaps this is a time to consider what to do to deter thieves?

For starters, I know the police used to have a few decoy tents. Do they still have those tents?

I am tempted to get a fake CCTV camera and position it in my tent, so if a thief enters, they think they're in a decoy tent.

I'd also recommend that people use the lock-ups, and hide any money in non-obvious places (ie don't leave it in your pockets, wallet, purse, handbag, or under your pillow). The thieves are mainly after cash, not phones or cameras which could be traced. If more people do this, then the thieves will find it much harder to steal things.

Get to know and keep an eye on your neighbours. Camping next to people who stay up all night next to the tents, chatting, might be a bit irritating, but thieves are also deterred.
