joe1990
there just not rock. i mean they have to call it american rock for a start because its not propper rock. have you ever herd of english rock no because we no what rock is an how to play it. the u.s and england are in exacly the same position at the moment. we have loads of dafft small indie bands all trying to be different and in the u.s they have loads of dafft indie bands or american rock bands all trying to be different. dont look to the u.s for new rock music because its not good. Matticus
haha whats not proper about foo fighters to lets say oasis? they both sound different yes, but are in the same gene pool of music and probably share some influences. i think you will find currently america is producing the best new talent. im not going to list of a reel of band names as theres no point. the whole idea of music for me is to discover stuff, BY YOURSELF. not using the radio as a tool for new music. Not saying britain hasnt produced is fair share of good bands, hell statistically speaking theres been a higher percentage of highly influencial and groundbreaking bands to come out of the uk then america in comparision to population and size, but right in this moment in time, the UK music scene is utter balls. So uninspiring. Just a bunch of topman, fair weather music fans who make no real effort in listening to anything worthwhile, will tag onto the next cool thing ( florence and the machine, mumford and sons etc for instance, why are they suddenly cool, no disrespect to them but theres been a thousand bands before them sounding exactly the same, yet with no PR machine behind them) open your eyes (ears) to the real music scene, bubbling underneath all the glossy, image based shite that people mistakenly think is edgy. theres a big scene of music and musicians that just get on with it, and some of them will never be big, but will be credited in generations to come as underground cult heroes, much like Devo are in todays terms.
