dvjj, that's amazing, well done!! yes you can, yes you can, yes you can.... :D

only a measly half pound for me (which considering it's only my second week is pretty rubbish). did have rather a wild BH weekend, guess that's my payback for it, and i suppose if i hadn't been doing WW the rest of the week then goodness knows what might have happened.

haven't done any exercise in over a week, what with the BHol and now full of stinking cold. going to try zumba at lunchtime and take it gently, then maybe back on the bike tonight and tomorrow.

there's a groupon on today for the military fitness bootcamp thing - 10 days for £25. has anyone ever done one of these? thinking of giving it a go, as at that price i can afford to miss one or two if i need to. don't want to run myself into the ground before the festival and end up getting ill again!

I used to go to Military Fitness classes in my local park twice a week. They certainly work you hard, it's a lot tougher than a regular gym class. I was so high after each class because of endorphins I was a bambling ball of excitement. I def saw results too. I went down from a size 14 to a size 10 in about two - three months.

Weigh in for me today :-)

Then only two more to go ----- it's the finish push everyone - we can do it. I won't be at goal, but thats OK - I'm closer (just) than I was last year after having yoyo-ed a little after breaking my foot last summer, and am definately fitter. 3 people asked me yesterday had I lost weight which is a great feeling ............

Positive Fridat ibes coming out to everyone , 2.56 more weeks of being a saint, then we can let our heair down for 5 days and then climb straight back on the wagon

Just think in 2 years time if we keep it up, we'll all be super fit/toned/at goal :-)

Double swim today. One in morning and then another tonight. Should have done a second last night but naughtily didn't. Beginning to get quite a bit faster and stronger with the swimming already. 200+ calories at least burnt each time I visit.

Going to attempt...note attempt...some ab crunches later, don't reckon I'll last long though. There's definitely something to be said about getting hot and bothered in water over dryland. Don't mind feeling pooped following 10mins of solid backcrawl..

Nothing to do with losing weight but all to do with getting fit:-

I am training in earnest for a 10k run for cancer research and manage 5k in 34 minutes yesterday, I was mightily impressed with that! Any runners out there got advice for me?

Good on you. Despite not running for years, I recently ran a half marathon to raise money for MacMillan Nurses and it's a great way to get fit and do a bit of good. I lost about 2 stone over the 3 months that I was training for it.

How long have you got to train before your 10k?

I wouldn't do that. Depending on the time you have to train i'd slowly increase the length of your long runs. Maybe just increase it by 1k a week. Much lower risk of injuring yourself this way.

yep, if you are training on a treadmill then get a gradient on it, only a small one but it will recreate the resistance of running outside and make the transition to 'real' running a lot easier. also next time you do your 'long run' cover the screen and just run until you stop, trust me you will go way further than you expect ;)

if you are training outside then there are plenty of route planners you can use online, get some routes planned of different distances and cross them off as you progress. seeing your distances increase is huge positive boost.

sign up on the runners world forums (efests for runners)

p.s. 5k in 34 mins aint that shoddy, well done!

That's plenty of training time for someone that can currently run 5k in just over half an hour. Infact from that time I reckon you could run 10k just now. (might hurt a bit but you could do it.)

My advice to you would be to not do too much. (but I'm very lazy)

The most important thing is to make sure you don't start training too hard and injure yourself.

Do one long run a week starting at 5k and increase it by 1k per week. Maybe do another couple of shorter runs or cross training sessions each week.

Make sure your warming up and cooling down properly, take the time to stretch.

Basically, if you don't injure yourself then you'll have no problems.

I'm not very happy. On Thursday everything felt brilliant, swimming and eating well was doing fine and then on Friday I suddenly ballooned for no bloody reason other than I had a slice of white bread for breakfast because I just fancied a change from Weetabix. Now 3 days later I feel and look like I did before I shelled out the £50 for the gym. Probably taking one of the outfits I bought the other week back to the shop as I wont feel nice wearing it now. I have just 6 days left of being able to go to the gym twice a day and may not even get to go next week. Not a particularly positive bunny right now :(

Lucy - as everyone else says, you know what you did wrong and at least you know that it's not actual weight gained: your insides are probably a bit puffy from the upset of the bread but will recover and you'll be back to a flat tummy with plenty of time to spare before the festival :D

dvjj - great news on the running, you must have been high as a kite after your success on the streets, hope you enjoy your new hobby

funkyfairy - good luck with the pre-fest detox

i had a more successful weekend this week than last, managed to just about stick to ww despite an 8 hour boozy picnic binge in the park on saturday. i actually decided to stay off the booze altogether, goodness knows what might have passed my lips if i hadn't! and i still nearly hit my weekly points limit - fingers crossed for the weigh in tomorrow.

haven't done any exercise at all this week (apart from short trips on the bike) - came down with a cold which has left me with chocka sinuses and a chesty cough that makes me sound like a bear so i'm taking it easy, would rather be well at glastonbury than thin i think.

task for today: get that mud-wrap booked for next week!

oh, forgot to mention - i went clothes shopping yesterday, needed stuff for work and am obviously feeling better about myself as i actually bought some office SHORTS!! i still can't believe i bought them (though haven't dared wear them yet). they're even in a size 14 :D. not everything i tried on in a 14 was a comfy fit but everything at least did up so am definitely getting there.

ultimate aim is to be back into the size 12s in time for a holiday in september, but i've been avoiding buying clothes because i refuse to buy a 16 (some sort of 'i'm really fat if i need a 16' barrier in my head) so it feels great to have some new clobber on in the office today

thanks so much for all your motivation :D

Just watching that embarrassing fat bodies on channel 4 right now. Being 2 stone over weight doesn't seem that bad now.

I know what you mean about the size 16 barrier Bigsmoke. As soon as I tipped from a size 14 I refused to do any shopping. The Atkins seems to be working for me now though as I've managed to zip up a couple of size 14 dresses and even a size 12 (tightly however). Just hope I lose a few more pounds in the next two weeks

Don't give up people. It can be done!

size 12? go you, that must have felt wonderful (if a little restrictive, haha)

YES WE CAN

weigh in for me tonight - done 90 mins cycling so far today so topped up the tan a little as well. popped a strappy vest on for just this purpose and, let me tell you, london is a DIFFERENT place with a low cut top on!!

I came across this pull out article in the Daily Mail up at my gym last night and am going to follow the eating plan for the next 2 weeks.

Diet/eating plan that is easily doable but only 1200 cals a day.

Just went to Toscos and spend about £15 on the essential food items (wholemeal pitta, beans etc) I'm not going to be lovely and svelte by the G I know but its worth a try and its what I like to eat anyway.

I made myself the snack hummus for my lunch instead of the chicken breast and added carrots to the bean mush. Twas luvverly on the pitta bread.

Back t'gym shortly.

May still take the outfit I mentioned back to BHS as I can get 3 Glasto outfits from Primani for the same price as the one item!

Lucy - you'll have to let us know how the diet goes - it looks a good one to me as you can eat most things and I could never give up carbs, I love them too much!

I would follow it myself, but I am having my wisdom teeth removed on Friday, so I'll be on soft food like yoghurt for a while! Just hope I recover in time for Glasto! Fingers crossed!!
