I live in Huddersfield (fairly close to Leeds) but i've only ever go past the Leeds Festival site once while we was going on the motorway (i'm a newbie to Leeds Festival)

anyone got any tips to get there? we'll be leave about 12ish on the Wednesday due to having early birds so any shortcuts if theres traffic?

thanks

Driving all the way from Burton on Trent here.

It's not relevant to this thread but my options are either head out towards Coalville and join the M1 there and drive on that all the way up to Leeds, merging into the A1 - OR, go up the A38 towards Mansfield and then head onto the M1 before the MacArthur Glen outlet village. Either way, I end up on the M1 and I'll be using it probably because I've heard it's the only way to actually get to the festival and is also probably the easiest/most direct.

Another tip I've gathered from 'reliable sources' would be to avoid using a SatNav as 9 times out of 10 all of the shortcuts and diversions are closed anyway so as to relieve congestion for the locals. If it was me (if I lived in Huddersfield), I'd aim for the M62 and then go along that until you get to junction 29 and then go on the M1. Then drive on that until you get to the A1 and it should be sign-posted after that.

Somebody told me that you have to go onto the A64 at some point as well but I'm not sure if this is a shortcut. In fact, I'm pretty sure the Leeds Festival website tells you to avoid using the A64.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
