Hey! Planning on going to Rock Werchter next year and going to Amsterdam on the way back

Never been to it before or to a European festival in fact, what can I expect when I get there? is it a good festival?

Hopefully next year

Daft Punk

Rolling Stones

Metallica

Radiohead

Veryyy wishful thinking :)

Depends what you want from a festival. The crowd is tame compared to the uk, but a lot more polite. They have the sense not to crush each other and it's easy to see the bands up front, they do go nuts for the dance acts though. Provided there's a few good bands playing (usually two headliners a night)i'll be making a return, two years of scorching hot weather in a row! Plus the girlfriend wants to attend a festival, and i'd rather she went to a nice one and we could make a holiday out of it rather than some of the morons you find at leeds etc.

daft punk alone would have my ticket booked!

I went to Werchter in 08, lovely festival, as the last poster said really lovely bunch of people. Didn't fancy it for the past two years as the bands haven't been so up to scratch.

The food's really excellent, I would mention, and the camping's spacious. It's a bit of a trek into the main site but not quite as extensive as the reading/leeds journey.

Only thing against is that, as a rule, if you tip up and you've got a few hours to kill, generally there's not anything on other than the music, and if you plan to go and see some backwater stage the music isn't as good or unoffensive as it might be at other festivals.

Otherwise go for it! My friend and I did Amsterdam before and Bruges afterwards, good shout!

went this year and it was a lovely festival.

but it all depends what you want from a festival.

campsites are very quiet and thats the way I like it nowadays.

organisation fantastic

easy to get to the front of bands you want to see price of beer is good for a festival

great bands

lovely atmosphere

no nobheads wrecking things on the last night

free travel from anywhere in belguim to the festival even the shuttle buses

bands dont finnish pre 11pm like most festivals in this country and go on to 1 or 2am.

its basically a 4 day festival rather than 3 at other uk festivals.

campsited are in little sections which makes it easy to find in the evenings.

but if you want a mad weekend of carnage its not for you.

one bad thing its was far to hot, it hit 42c this year.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

would I go again, you bet ya.

having a think about this. been to a few different uk festvals and went to bennicassim this year too. good event but not the best line up this year. also, Gorillaz were a massive disappointment. liked the line up at Werchter though. If its half as good I'm in! When do the 1st few acts tend to get announced?

I went to Werchter this and last year and there's a big chance i'll go next year.

The line-up is every year great. I saw 'Coldplay, The Killers and Bloc Party' and 'Oasis, The Prodigy and Placebo' on 1 day, while all six of them headline other festivals. So Werchter is a very good festival if you want to see a lot of big bands.

If you go, choose camping A1, nearest to the festival site and a lot of flemish, dutch and english-speaking people. Very, very nice.

Organisation is every year better, they learn from their own mistakes.

Food is great, the french fries are from a great quality. It's possibly to buy food and drink vouchers in pre-sale, that's easy and cheaper.

In my opinion, next year Kings of Leon, Interpol, Daft Punk, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age and R.E.M. will be there.
