Interesting Gorillaz getting a pretty bad reaction in parts. U2 was one of the reasons I didn't go, and Gorillaz are a reason I would have. Don't know how much they did of Plastic Beach but I thought alot of Demon Days would have translated well.

I was stood half way up the field and to be honest they lost the crowd (round where i was anyway) for large parts, I did think think it was a poor choice but what was on offer so late in the day after U2 pulled out? Not a headline band in my view.... Apart from that had a fantastic time

I left after an hour. I love Gorillaz, but the crowd reaction to them was only a little short of hostile. Everyone around me was saying things like "Blur would've been better" and there were even a few chants for blur. The crowd simply weren't up for it.

The band did definitely play their part though. With Gorillaz people were expecting guests so to not have Snoop on stage for the first song was pretty bemusing for people, took half the song for everyone to realise Snoop wasn't coming out. Then there are a load of songs until a guest performance... and that's without Mos Def because of his unfortunate cancellation. So from there on in it was an upward hill battle, and Damon looked like he was getting pretty frustrated trying to get everyone riled up with little success.

So I concede to Neil, they were not the right choice for headliner at all.

I didn't get round to going to see them, I forget why, sounds like i didn't miss much and can keep damons blur performance with me instead

I thought they were fantastic. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think you could possibly read something into the fact that you didn't just say "Gorillaz weren't great" but had to make the "U2 replacement" point. I'd like to have seen U2 and I'm pretty sure we will in either 2011 or 2013, but I thought Gorillaz did the job.

I'm not going to pretend they had the biggest cheers I've ever heard for a headline set there, but to say that there was a borderline "hostile" reaction beggars belief...

I loved the set. Not all headline acts are going to be Bread and Circus' are they? Only Plebs and haters didn't like this set, i think they nailed it!

It wouldn't be Glastonbury if there wasn't a little controversy! Considering the headliners in the past, Gorillaz are still a big seller and if the crowd didn't like the Plastic Beach stuff (easily their best material!), then thats their opinion.

I didn't see them but I'm still absolutely gutted.

I really enjoyed it but my mate thought it was average at best. I saw the whole thing as a bit of a play, with the Plastic Beach concept running like a story on stage.

I recieved a lot of texts from my mates watching at home saying that they thought Gorillaz looked crap but I am fairly confused about the reaction. I agree that the crowd wasnt the best and it may have been a dissapointment for those who bought tickets in the hope of seeing U2 but it was one of the best things I saw all weekend.

Nobody can deny that their famous songs had some of the best reactions of any set...clint eastwood was amazing!!

Who cares anyway...you had the Flaming Lips, Fatboy Slim, Bootleg Beatles to choose from!!!
