ordered a cool box off argos which was listed as battery powered.....turns out it has to be plugged into the lighter socket in your car :/ any ideas on how to keep beer/mixers cold for a week?

Yup - I just concentrate on taking enough cold booze for Wednesday and then just deal with warm beer the rest of the time.

I have been told though that you can slip your beer under your ground sheet of the tent, pour on some water and the earth will keep it cooler than if it was just lying around in your tent.

Worth a try.

Fill it with a couple of bags of ice cubes, will guarantee cold beer for the 1st day and possibly second, if you leave the melt water in the box.

But other than that filling it (or any container such as a bucket for that matter) with cold water and immersing the cans for a while should chill them a bit.

Keeping the cans under the groundsheet does actually work fairly well, so I can vouch for that :)

If you have a box of beer (15/18 cans) instead of crate of beer (24 tray with plastic wrap) you can do the following which works pretty well.

1) drink a few cans of beer to make some space

2) get some newspaper

3) drink another can and maybe take a few out

4) stuff newspaper into box

5) put cans back into box

6) soak the whole think in a litre or 2 of cold water

7) try to keep in shadey place

Doesnt keep them ice cold but better than nothing and most likely better than a cool box thats meant to run off 12v. Helps if they're cold to start with as well

or if you're lazy, just stick em under your groundsheet / steel some ice from stonecircle ;)
