I see you didn't find the first post I made several weeks ago, where I said they had a habit of doing well against us. :P

But hey, presenting selective bollox makes you right and me wrong. :P

how's it selective? you said england would win, draw and lose. so we're assuming the win is coming against slovenia. so what about the other two? do the usa beat you or is it algeria that do?

More selective bollox. :P

I followed those words with something along the lines of "Ok, that might not happen...."

either way, they don't do well against england, and if you are looking at past form, it's got to be an england win.

Results are not all there is to doing well. :P

They've out-played us, but lost before now. England were absolutely slaughtered in the press because of it.

The USA are a better team now than they were at that point, while England are not.

okay so you posted something that you knew was pish and then used your insurance line cos you knew it was. why post it at all then :P

show me the slaughtering please :P

No, I posted what I recognise is a more than reasonable possibility.

The likes of Langdale think it's impossible that we won't get out the groups. That's a foolish view.

When?

Under Graham Taylor, maybe - but that was over 15 years ago!

The USA are weaker now than they were 12 months ago. I think you're over-estimating them.

It's possible that I'm thinking of the game under Taylor - I can't actually remember when the game was that I'm thinking of.

England are also weaker now than they were 12 months ago.

Selective? You said that they have a habit of beating us or doing well against us, they don't. Prove otherwise and you might have a chance of showing that you haven't used an uninformed opinion as fact.

For you to have the proof, you've have to be perhaps 20 years older than you are.

If you can't manage to do that, oh well. You've not proven me wrong, and I don't care enough to put in the work to prove me right.

Believe it's a guaranteed win if you like. In fact, if it's all so guaranteed, why are we bothering going at all? That was how England used to pretend to be the best when they weren't, and it came as a mighty shock to find out that we weren't by a VERY long way.

You might be getting a similar shock soonish.

I didn't say that though, did I?

Saying we won't is similar to saying Portsmouth would win the cup final last weekend. Not impossible, merely highly improbable.

It would be a shock if we didn't.

While I stretched it a little, you get to show my stretching was far from unreasonable.

Would it have been a shock if Pompey had won and not Chelsea? Nope. Cos in football, teams lose games.

The world cup is no different - AND the gap is closer.

    • What’s everyone’s thoughts on the map?
    • Only took 31 or so hours after the initial reports but yeah, official now. It's been a genuinely bizarre few days with it all, to say nothing of the continual rumours some of the players being on the way out on top of this change.    Certainly, it enhances the vibe that I have no idea what this season will be like. We've had manager departures early in a season before - Dalglish, Gullit, Robson, Keegan - but one walking out halfway through preseason is uncharted territory. And that's to say nothing of a hard pivot towards a Brighton style model.
    • Yep, 2nd round. Labour's Craig vs Reform's Astley.
    • Ultimately much of EU f**ked up with this, instead of showing solidarity they just said and did some stupid sh*t to supposedly punish Spain for their own political reasons. Ultimately its one of the reasons why EU will never fully reach its potential as long as it remains a group of sovereign states.
    • 2nd count apparently.
