If we are having it how it actually used to be then please sir, may we have Pixies, Neil Young and Manic Street Preachers headlining. With Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Soundgarden, Beck, Jane's Addiction, Weezer, Pavement, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Iggy Pop, Bjork, Suede, Placebo, Potishead, Primal Scream, PJ Harvey, Mark Lanegan, Massive Attack, Faith No More, Eels etc etc etc.. How about 2011.. Blur, The Cure, and a special one off NIN gig as our headliners?

Last year I talked to a couple of guys who were going to la Roux in Slayer leather jackets :P . Metalheads tend to have a rather diverse music taste, much to the contrary of the stereotype leads to believe, which is why in my eyes I could easily see System getting a good response.

In all fairness, I've never met a fan of Metal who likes music other than Metal. The music itself is hopelessly one-dimensional - as a musician I know this because I used to play it - as are the vast majority of fans who would swear by the seriousness of 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas' by Mayhem and look at Reign In Blood as the be all and end all of music's development.

There are very few bands who see outside the spectrum of Metal when they play it, and likewise, their fans tend to be very one-dimensional listeners. They're dedicated but then you could say the same thing about a suicide bomber.

SOAD would be immense, you said you grew up with Rage, those of us a few years younger have done exactly the same with System. They'd obviously be more suited to Soni/Download (as any heavy band undoubtedly would) but I think they would fit in just fine at Reading and get a very good response, Serj is playing this year after all.
