PabloJ
3rd - 5th September 2010 at a lovely new location 20 mins from Cambridge, 45 mins from London and under an hour from Peterborough. The GrassRoots Feastival is not a typo. It is a collaborative community arts project which is intended to bring people together in a unique and fundamental way – through entertainment, shared space and time and the most basic and primal of all communal activities: eating together. On the back of the massively successful Grassroots festival 2008, Muddy Promotions of Peterborough have pulled crews from all over the country to expand on Grassroots’ prior success and collaborate in bringing you an intimate yet extravagant festival experience. There will be a variety of stages catering for everything from Spoken-Word, Comedy and Cabaret through Folk, Rock and Reggae to Techno, Jungle and Psychedelia. From London we have the flare and diversity of the The Antics Establishment bringing you their truly unique party vibe; from afro-fusion-dub-funk-soul to gypsy-garage-punk-thrash-techno. Tie your laces and ping your braces, put your dancing shoes on and get ready to BOUNCE! Also from London, BBC2’s official Folk Club Of The Year The Magpie's Nest will be showcasing the creamiest cream of the UK Folk scene. From the authentic and traditional to the outlandish and obscure, check your roots - they’re showing. Peterborough will be pulling its weight in true Troubadour style with an eclectic mixture of organic and electronic sounds from various peripatetic (look it up) outfits. JAR Records, Art & Soul and Very Woolly Productions will all be adding to this heady little cocktail alongside amazing headline acts from all over the country booked by the legendary Peddlebreaker himself. We are also pleased to announce that the CircuitTree have made a last-minute bid, pulling out plugs and blowing fuses to bless us with the comely shade of their verdant Techno branches. On the subject of electronica, Uprizing have been honing the cutting edge of dance music events in the UK for nearly a decade now. From Roots Reggae to Ragga Jungle to ear-smashing Breakcore and Hard-Tek, these guys don’t just have their finger on the pulse of dance music, they’ve quantized, remixed and looped it before pumping it through the first-ever quadrophonic Funktion1 rig in the UK. Also from Cambridge, Tripycyty will be offering full on, deep, heavy, funky, groovy, organic, orgasmic, soul tickling, bubbling, tentacled Psychedelic electronica sounds! With trance, progressive, electro breaks and tech. A party where you can truly let yourself go, and explore your imagination. Featuring some of the best d.j's and live acts the world is gifted with. Hammer & Tongue are the leading slam poetry organisation in the UK and have been consistently importing high-grade spoken-word from all over the world since 2003 while maintaining highly productive home-grown greenhouses in Oxford, Bath, Brighton, London, Cambridge, and most recently, Bristol. Through all-inclusive theatre games and poetry workshops, slams and open-mic opportunities, Hammer & Tongue will show you what you could be getting your lips around if only you gave them the chance. There will also be a Communal Area situated right in front of the site office (from which security and stewarding will operate 24 hours a day). The communal area will include a kid’s area, workshop space and a chill-out zone for people to get together, chat, entertain and educate each other with talks and seminars occurring throughout the weekend. It will also play host to the Upbeat Open Mic Stage where you, the festival-goer can shine your own special light over the Grassroots Feastival community alongside more established acoustic and spoken word acts. On the Sunday afternoon the FEASTival will take place – during which all other entertainment will cease and everybody on site will be served dinner together... And yes - we do mean EVERYBODY.
