Well okay good point. But it's never happened on mainstage, and when was lostprophets slotted in?

Im still standing by the fact they have never done it on mainstage.

Also the bands they have done it with are hardly common bands. They were more special anouncements. You cant even compare faith no more and shadow puppets to Reel big fish and dropkicks.

Lostprophets I can only assume someone pulled out. Mainly coz i dispise them. Not coz of thier music, but thier welsh and play the festival too much. Grr.

To be honest i refuse to believe the the music industry, and this festival has stooped so low as to let Blink-182 have a 2 hour set when The Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies and Rage Against The Machine all didn't. All were bigger bands in their time... except maybe Pixies. Such a completly depressing state for music to be in.

However i think both Blur and Metallica got 2 hours in 2003... but that i am very unsure of.

Nah Pumpkins definately got an hour and a half. Was Chillis who did 2 hours. :P

Keep in mind that every year we have these imaginary "rules" to how the festival is run but every year

2010 - Friday becomes "metal sunday"

2009 - No heavy headliners or metal sunday.

2008 - Last Shadow Puppets "slotted in" and Rage Against the Machine playing the "indie slot"

I'm sure there are examples from every year that break the template of how the festival is normally booked.

So of course it's POSSIBLE somebody will be slotted in on the Blink day but what I think is most likely:P

Guns N Roses will get a 2 hour slot (Have played 2+ hour gigs for the last 10 years and every date on the tour they're on has been 2+ hours, sometimes as long as over 3 hours. Will definately do 2 hours.

Blink have played about 60 gigs since reforming and never played a 2 hour set. Their songs are generally 3-4 mins long so they'd need about 30 songs to fill 2 hours and to my knowledge have yet to do that. I can't see this being the case for Reading/Leeds. Will almost definately do 2 hours.

So:

- I think every band below will get a slightly longer set (as is evident from past years when acts have dropped out) So perhaps an extra song per act.

- Was rumoured Green Day were originally booked to headline above Blink so perhaps that's why there's a space. Maybe the slot will be filled for the next announcement. I'd say the above is most likely though.

I think to really pull off a 2 hour set you need a bigger back catalogue of hits than blink 182 have. The likes of oasis, green day, foos etc can play 2 hour sets where even your floating festival fan knows most of the songs. Even playing a 90 minute set a lot of non blink fans will struggle to know half the songs.

Anyone else heard the new cypress hill version of paradise city featuring slash??wouldn't be a bad bet for him to turn up at the festival with them and he's got a new album out as well so reckon they could play extended set with slash...thats my shout anyway
