Line-up praise

What a cracking line-up this year.

The Orb, LCD Soundsystem, Faithless, MGMT, Orbital, Delphic, Groove Armada, Hot Chip, The Flaming Lips, Alabama 3, Levellers, Snoop Dogg, Ray Davies etc...

I can't wait, but there's going to be so many clashes. :P

I must admit to being sick of the negative comments on the line up on here. I think it's fantastic, but then I would only go to the big stages for a "must see" and much prefer smaller stages. I think this line up looks like the year of the hidden gem and I'm sure there will be loads of anniversary surprises tucked away too. I can't believe I have to to wait another 2 months it's not fair!

think if it was announced in a oner, i'd be creaming my pants. the fact that the best stuff was known weeks and months ago, it kind of took the shine of the official announcement.

all i know is that i'm going to try my best to have the best one yet, and whoevers playing will probably play a small part in that. except for stevie :P

I don't think or pretend Glastonbury is above criticism where it's due. Nothing is. It just seems that there are a lot of people who are going this year who wanted nothing but back to back mainstream chart or indie acts/legendary acts on the main stages and that isn't what Glastonbury does or is about.

Glastonbury promotes varied entertainment of all forms - not just music - and avoids corporate sponsorship to retain independence and do it's own thing. If you want to stand in the eBay/Nike/Pepsi arena all day, eat crap fast food and drink overpriced Fosters because it's the only thing on offer and watch back to back mainstream overpriced drivel then there are places for that. If you want to experience some freedom, try new things, meet new people, see new acts of every genre and type (i.e not just music) and see random, jaw dropping things round every corner, go to Glastonbury.

If I'm honest, I would go to Glastonbury if there wasn't a single act I knew or liked on any stage, pay the £185 gladly and be as excited as a puppy screwing a soft toy about it. It's a festival, not a concert.

I guess it's about outlook and expectation and we clearly see it differently. Since the line up announcement, I've been investigating the acts I don't know in the hope I'll discover a new act I'd like to see live in a place I love. I'm guessing you haven't been doing this.

    • Feel Stevie Wonder should be in the conversation as a random Michael Eavis headliner ala Neil Young last year.... If we did get a M.E pick for one of the headliner slots, who else would be in the mix do we think? Cher? Rolling Stones? Nicks/Fleetwood?
    • That interview was long enough ago for Madonna to have been offered a 3rd BST to say no to Glastonbury and Olivia Dean to have been asked.

    • Funny if after this they've managed to get Oasis and nobody has a clue.   Also, dunno if it's just me but I can't see any betting odds anymore, William Hill or otherwise. Doesn't take much for that market to change, or come down, as the little Fontaines flurry showed 😅
