ah dont get me wrong, punkier stuff i love getting in the mix for.

But some people are real dick heads in mosh pits which i swear goes against all the unwritten rules of the mosh pit.

Well for me its anywhere that has a half-decent view of the band that doesn't make you feel like they're a mile away.

But if you're happy at the back there should be no problem getting a good spot!

tbh I'm not that bothered about being near to the front for DC, but just being half-way back could be difficult for me to be bothered with, given the amount of people that will be there.

Haha I'm the opposite of that - even if I want to be on the barrier I rarely stay there as its just not worth the effort fighting everyone to defend your spot constantly, especially at a festival, for me. I'd rather stand behind the mosh pits where you can actually see the whole stage/push annoying kids moshing right into the path of a Kerry King wannabe. :P

I'm just thinking that with the entire festival being there to see AC/DC, and the hype (both positive and negative) over the whole thing, things may get a bit uncomfortable further back than they normally do. I'm probably over-reacting though tbh.

i have to say, theres a few bits on there i like (porcupine tree :P , slash etc)

bit grrr about the lack of beatsteaks, but mebe thats just me (and shinny), twas never likely really!

anyway, I updated the spotify playlist to include most of what I could find from the last 2 announcements (slash solo stuff aint on there yet, presumably cos he's quite far down there wont be "classics" as such). the spotify link is here. feel free to make suggestions :P

Having had time to calm down and rationalise, here's my weekend so far:

Friday: AC/DC, Them Crooked Vultures, Lawnmower Deth, Unearth, Breed 77

Saturday: RATM, Deftones, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Cancer Bats/Sybreed, Rock Sugar/Holy Grail

Sunday: Aerosmith, STP/Airbourne, Motorhead/Steel Panther, Billy Idol, The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Damned Things, Saxon, Ratt.

Hmm, maybe it doesn't look too bad after all. But still, can't help but think its lacking some firepower.

This doesn't deserve its own thread so I'll put it here:

Mastodon have just announced European tour dates, and there is a vacancy on the 13th, with them in Denmark the day before.

Reckon they're likely to play, or just have the date open because they're a band Copping failed to get (they were talking)?

I'd like to think they're playing, but I've a horrible feeling AC has missed out on them. Furthermore, where would they place on the line-up? Presumably somewhere near the top of second stage, perhaps above The Used. But I've a nagging feeling this is another top band we're gonna miss out on. I hope I'm wrong.

You know after the Nottingham gig in March Troy basically said that they were in talks to play, but he didn't sound too optimistic about it happening.

Kind of makes me think that either Copping couldn't give them what they wanted to play - cash probably as stage positions seem relatively flexible on Sunday - or they've been nabbed by Sonisphere, which seems unlikely as Megadeth are playing both, and surely all exclusives have already been announced.

To be honest given these tour dates, clearly done with Download easily available, I'm quite surprised they've not been announced yet. If Download has them they'd have been announced with the last lot of bands as Copping is getting abuse 24/7 on Twitter over the quality of bands announced, makes me think that the budget really is running low, given the millions they've paid out to each of the headliners.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
