Me with the Bees at the Moseley Folk Festival in 2008. Top blokes. I had a good natter with them. Wolves won 5-1 that day too. Days as good as that don't come around very often!!

I have 9 weeks to convert my friends to the charms of the Bees...if successful I will be also there for both them and Tunng. Definitely on my top 10 bands to see for the weekend list.

They have also covered A Minha Menina by Os Mutantes who are playing the Saturday night on West Holts - Kurt Cobain once begged them to reform so you committing cultural cannibalism by missing them too!

My only *festival* experience of the Bees was at an extremely cold and wet 02 in Leeds, whihc even they couldn't brighten. I've seen them two other times apart from that, both much better experiences.

I agree a bit of Bees and Brothers on a sunny afternoon will be ace. I will dance like a loon to Chicken Payback, Wash In The Rain and The Russian like I always do :P

I know CP is an extremely silly song, but I cannot listen to it without a massive grin on my face...

very much looking forward to these on sunday, followed by tunng. only discovered tunng recently but are better each time i listen.

first saw the bees back in about 03/04 when they supported the coral in portsmouth. had never really heard of them but was blown away. on a par with the coral definately. it might have helped that me and my friend ingested some strange fungi for dinner which started to digest around about the time they came onstage. the swapping of instruments was a confusing moment for us both. :P

for me, they have been one of the most consistently brilliant pop bands of the last 10 years. if more stuff in the charts was like that then the world, or at least britain, would be a better place.

but thats just me.

cant wait till 23rd june!

I've noticed The Bees are a 'confirmed' on the efests rumours page for the Friday - I'm therefore presuming that the Queen's Head line up on the Q website is incorrect, and the Glastonbury page is correct?

  • 3 weeks later...

finally go tround to listening to these. I only managed to get hold of the lastest two long players though - free the bees and octupus. I have been told the first album is the best though, is this the case?

I like them quite a bit so will catch them at glasto for sure.

They remind me of a band called Dr Dog. Anyone know/like them? If you like the bees I would suggest checking out Dr Dog. Start with the album We All Belong. Ace stuff
