I can put this one to bed.....

My brother is a lawyer for the firm who deal with most of R/L's contractual agreements.

Libertines have a UK exclusivity clause with R/L - Tugger you were 100% correct!

He says the contract allows them 1 other festival appearance outside of the UK - Guessing highest bidder.....

The one glimmer of hope for any Glasto people is that he doesn't think an impromptu appearance on say the Park stage would contradict any terms within the contact as the core element of the contract is around NOT agreeing to playing other festivals and NOT signing contracts with them, but it definitely wouldn't be main stages and definitely won't be advertised.

Expect at least 1 main warm up show - At the Forum, Kentish Town and potential other "pub gigs" detailed on the day they're due to play...

Hope this helps

I think Carl and Pete will do something together, maybe not including John and Gary though. I dont know about this Reading exclusivity thingy Im sure there will be a Libertines performance of sorts at Glastonbury if you look at Peter and Carls touring schedules.

Peter/Babyshambles have a big Glastonbury sized hole in their list of French shows/festivls their doing and Carl will be on the Leftfield stage. I think they will be doing something together what with their new re-kindled friendship.

My bet is on a secret gig probably, hopefully Peter's manager will give it away on FrenchDogWrittles just before the festival.

This is ofcourse if they havnt all fallen out again by June and hopefully Peter wont have got locked up for the charges he is facing of suplying drugs at the moment. Fingers crossed things go smoothly. I really hope they do play Glastonbury, Im a maaaaasive Libertines fan but have to admit I think theyve lost some credibility playing Reading/Leeds the most commercial festival there is as their comeback. Thye would suit Glasto better.

    • I agree that we’ll never really know up until the concert happens (and even then we still may not know) but I think promoters are having to come up with new tactics to combat ‘blue dot fever’ (already hating that phrase!) and trying to imply that concerts are selling better than they actually are / available tickets are in short supply is definitely one of them.    To add though, it is quite common at the O2 Arena for the rear blocks to not go on sale (and then remain closed for the concert and covered over to hide the empty seats). And equally common for standing to sell out first, then side/lower tier seating next and rear/upper tier seating last.    Jungle’s two concerts at the O2 are a good comparison for this - for their 1st (announced) date, all blocks are on sale and seats in all sections remain unsold, whereas for their 2nd date, the rear blocks are greyed out (more so than for Muse) and equally lots of seats remain unsold in the blue blocks. Standing for both concerts are showing as sold out.
    • MGK can and should headline. I was at one of his shows earlier in the year as a very casual fan, and there were a lot of alt people there. The show was actually class and he completely won me over. Anyone who opposes him headlining is just a gatekeeper imo, we need to move with the times.
    • Ultimately Glasto is just part of the festival circuit, however special we may think it is. The vast majority of its headliners have done many others
    • From Magyar’s FB:   ”Our country's energy and water supply is stable. As of today, voluntary consumption reduction is no longer necessary. The turbine at the Paks power plant is generating stably. Thanks to precipitation in Austria, the water level of the Danube will temporarily rise by 20–30 centimeters. Thank you, Hungary, for the unprecedented national unity shown in recent days! We have much to be proud of, and much to carry forward into the period ahead.”
    • I hope it stays under £400.  A lot of us aren't flush with cash.  Charities are great but do they need £1 mil (I jest)
