I'd be interested to hear those too if possible mate?

I also need to find the mp3s of the Channel M show if anyone know where to find them?

There was meant to be a rerelease a few months ago, but Johnny wasn't happy with the quality of the CD so binned them all.

I have (pretty low quality, ripped from vinyl) MP3s, if anyone wants?

My personal order would be:

I Am Kloot

Natural History

Moulah Rouge

Gods and Monsters

But really, Gods is just as good as their self titled efford. In short: get them all!

Those who asked for the Johnny Dangerously album: check your PMs. If anyone else wants it, drop me a PM.

Those of you who don't know what you're missing, this is what the Guardian had to say about it in their 'best album you'll never hear' article from a while back...

Johnny Dangerously

You, Me and the Alarm Clock (1990)

Johnny Dangerously looked like a griddle chef, but had the voice of an angel. When he walked on stage, he carried only a guitar and a plastic crate. He put one foot on the crate, perched the guitar on his knee and sang soaring, glorious songs about supermarket love affairs, muscle magazines and bedsit self-loathing. People only really knew him around Manchester, but it was 1990, and he was drowned in a tide of baggy trousers. Johnny was more donkey jacket than denim, so this mini-album slipped out and promptly vanished. Shame. Because it's still to-cry-for wonderful. Aching with picture-poems set to simple soul-squeezing acoustic melodies. No one bought it, and Johnny slipped quietly away. But there's a sting in the tail. This year, he's back having one last pop with his band I Am Kloot. Connoisseurs purred when they saw the bonus track on a recent CD single: a lost gem from You, Me and the Alarm Clock, rerecorded and as gorgeous as ever. But sadly, no one's listening now either.

I have been listening to I Am Kloot a lot since discovering them here on this forum. Particularly "Because". It reminds me a bit of "This Is Just A Modern Rock Song" by Belle & Sebastian. So I thought I'd post that song here for everyone else to enjoy. Plus it gives this thread a bump and maybe it might spur someone into some sort of confirmation that Kloot will be playing at Glastonbury this year...

You really should! Get your hands on the album You & Me.

I think it's terrific.

Observer review:

"Bile-soaked single The Rat gave the Walkmen their biggest hit, but this doubt-ravaged fourth album is their most cohesive success. Its atmospheric, indie-infused Americana is a late-night treat, Hamilton Leithauser's raw vocals - he sounds like a broken, drunken Bob Dylan - setting the contemplative tone. Seven Years of Holidays (For Stretch) juggles past rootlessness with a desire for security. Red Moon is about missing home and making promises; the shaky optimism of In the New Year is built upon chiming, steely guitars. The sparse songs bloom into audacious, shambling melodies, Matt Barrick's clickety-clack percussion adding a quirky charm to the melancholy, funeral brass and subtle strings which flutter throughout. Intimate, intense and beautiful, You & Me demands repeat plays and the Walkmen deserve a new respect."

  • 2 weeks later...

Kloot update (not Glasto related I'm afraid).

I received their newsletter today, and the new album is finished and will be released in July. I haven't heard anything about any new tour (they finished their European dates at the end of March) but I'd guess they'd announce them soon as well.

This is a quote from the guy who runs the I Am Kloot forum:

the band have been up to their ears with sorting out the new record so please bear with them.

and i just heard a couple of tracks from the LP - honestly (as 1st and foremost I am a fan of the band - not the web guy) the record is going to blow your minds - it is beautiful and haunting and many other things that i cannot describe in words....

Really excited about this new album, first heard them play some of the new stuff at last years valentines day gig and then again at the glorious deaf institute gig later in the year. Hopefully this will be on it, I got shivers when i first heard it.

It's a gem. I do so hope they play, it would be amazing to see them at Glastonbury, I'm thinking The Park in the sunshine :P Can't wait to hear this one after the Guy and Craig treatment, It could be the track that gets them the recognition they so deserve.

I think it's called 'Northern Skies'.

I agree about 'Even the Stars'. Love it

Gah I cant listen to youtube at work either.

I am dying to get home and listen to these links.

When I saw them a couple of months back they played a new song that was utterly sensational. I wonder if it will be one of these. I really think they will win the Mercury prize and then stardom awaits.

I have incredibly high hopes for this album. Fingers crossed they'll be at glasto.

I believe (did you see what I did there?)

PS langers - I got the albums back so all is good in the world again.

I'm pretty sure I heard that they're holding on to Even The Stars for the next album after this one because it didn't fit the sound of this album.

Or maybe I imagined that.
