Posh Friday

I was given my finished costume yesterday, and can seriously say that I think I will out-pimp Snoop Dogg. My friend Jonathan Grant is a fantastic designer, and I will be the beau of the ball.

Hope every one else's costumes / outfits are coming on.

There will be a t-shirt masquerading as a flag at the Cider Bus meets, and I'll probably wear the t-shirt on the Thursday to advertise Posh Friday.

T-shirt flag has arrived. I will be wearing it at the Cider Bus meet on the Thursday (and maybe whilst trying to find on the Weds) to advertise Posh Friday.

Here it is, so look out for it flying near the Cider Bus on the Friday.

I havent read the whole thread but I shall be joining you.

I have found a reasonable fascinator, bought a faux fur thing at Download and am searching out suitable dresses at home.

Its just footwear that is the problem for me but I could probably slip a little set of black pumps into the packing maybe. There is still a few days of getting access to charity shops isnt there?

I am sending the corsets I bought back to the shop and I dont think negliges and bloomers quite cover 'posh' as a theme unfortunately.

I am trying to look for the ball gown I wore for the opera back in 04 to no avail.

I am getting my outfit this weekend, what I do not know, although people mentioning facinators is making me rather keen on getting one of them! Just hope I can find other posh goodies this weekend!

I made my own last week. I went to my local fabric shop and bought some cheapo feathery things and some ribbon. I then went to Poundland and got 3 headbands for a quid. I then, using sellotape and then with some sewing, attached the feathers using the ribbon to cover up the sellotape, then sewed the ribbon together onto the headband.

Voila...a funky black feathery fascinator for under £1.50!

Should I try and make a few more and bring them along maybe?

Now that the set times have come out, I can confirm that the 2nd meet (pre-Snoop Dogg)will be convened at 4:15pm at the Cider Bus. I know that Willie Nelson is still on stage until 4:30pm, so the meet will be hanging around the Cider Bus until 4:45pm before perambulating down en-masse to the Pyramid Stage to see Snoop. I will be displaying the flag until we are somewhere in the Pyramid field (arena), it will not be on display during Snoop's set. I don't want to be accused of flag waving but people should be able to see where we are if they want to remain in the Pyramid field rather than meet us at the Cider Bus.

and you really think dressing in boring penguin suits is adding to the history of glastonbury?

very creative post by clearly someone with the brain capacity of a five year old...

we're not trying to add to the history of the festival, its just about a group of people who don't want to get dressed up in superman outfits but something a little more refined ;)

and have a whole lot of fun!

being very (possibly too) honest,

girls look great in posh stuff

I don't know why, but when i see the standard black tie outfit - it screams uncreative

i still love you, possibly at the level of loving a closed minded daily mail reader. i accept it, but my inside is saying WHY!!

glasto for me is about making a statement - mentally or physically

I suspect most people wearing black tie are doing it because of the amusement factor of being so smart at somewhere generally considering so messy and smelly :P They are wearing it in a ironic way, not because they think all the lower class ruffians should polish up and don top hats.

I doubt they are trying to make a statement, just having fun.

I don't try to make a statement at Glastonbury. Would rather get pissed and have a laugh :)

I agree the tshirt is a little naff, it's a very quick design which I borrowed from the internet to make in to a flag.

However I will not be wearing black tie, far from it. My posh outfit is vibrant, creative and interesting. Far from blending in, it will stand out.

The idea of having over 100 people in posh costumes is pretty exciting. We're all planning on having fun, which is the Glastonbury ethos. I don't like you calling us knobs, or inferring that we are Daily Mail readers (I don't know which is worse), but to show there's no hard feelings, turn up to one of the meets wearing whatever you want, and I'll buy you a cider.

    • I think a Take to the Skies set would probably be the thing that gets me to go to this. Couldn't give a f**k whatelse is on there if that happens.   Feel like Knocked Loose might be too big by that point.
