What's people's least favourite Beatles tracks?

I never liked Doctor Robert. Silly lyrics, directionless, listless and filler.

Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da is awful IMHO - probably my least favourite. I won't count Revolution #9 as a track.

Oh, and Only A Northern Song is pretty crappy too.

Yeah its amazing to think about it like that. Also add 3 ½ years of constant touring, 3 movies, changing the way bands worked (ie writing all their own songs), a managers death, the “bigger than Jesus” and admitting to taking acid comments and songs that inspired mass murder, you’ve an amazing 8 year career.

I don't think it's that impressive. Dylan recorded and made - for me - more seminal albums in roughly the same time period.

I think that's how it was back then. None of this two albums in a decade shite that you get from some big bands today.

I find it quite hard to think of any of their songs that I activley dislike. Dr. Robert?? quite like that one.

Maxwells Silver Hammer

The album version of While my Guitar Gently Weeps. Guitar playing is HORRIBLE. Acoustic version is superb though.

And theres a good few bog standards off the earlier albums (pre Rubber Soul) that are pants.

sifi..... come on. Reffering everything to what Dylan did is very predictable, and in this case daft. He might have recorded as many 'seminal' (questionable) albums, but he certainly didn't cover as much musical ground as The Beatles did

I haven't mentioned him for months, cut me some slack.

And in the time the Beatles got done, he'd done folk, rock, rock n'roll, americana, singer songwriting and country.

In many ways I think he was well ahead of the Beatles. He was recording Desolation Row when they were recording Help!

I think that's how it was back then. None of this two albums in a decade shite that you get from some big bands today.

It's intresting to compare, obviously things are so different today.

I don't think Dylan's workload was anything near what the Beatles acomplished. I think (may be wrong) Dylan made 7 albums in the same time frame The Beatles made 12, and The Beatles made considerably more singles and 2 films on top of their touring and promotion. No-one can really top The Beach Boys in this though - in one 12 month period they released 4 classic albums, and the following year released Today! and Pet Sounds...Of course this sent their leader insane.

You don't like Eric's guitar solos? Love that track. Though I agree about the acoustic version. Have you heard the acoustic version with the added (yet subtle) strings they released on the Love album? Probably my favourite version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

I also prefer the softer album version of Revolution rather than the better known rocky version.

Sums up my thoughts pretty well...

Not that impressive? You may prefer other artists for sure, but to say they are not impressive is simply ridiculous. I'm sure if you asked Dylan he would agree too. That's kinda the point. Dylan famously inspired Lennon, but I would argue it this inspiration was mutual.

Mine would either be Joe Cocker's With a Little Help From My Friends or Jim Carrey doing a fabulous I Am The Walrus on George Martin's In My Life album. Or Isaac Scott doing a bluesy version of Help. But there are so many.

That George Martin album is WELL worth a listen if you haven't already. Some interesting takes on Beatles songs.

I Want You is fantastic... a primal scream of such intensity. One of the greatest songs/performances by anyone.... ever...

the build of white noise towards the end, the sudden end.. and Paul's bass playing is just phenomenal

It just goes on to long, with nothing particuarly to say (although I appreciate to Lennon what he was saying was very important, just not to me). I think it disrupts the flow of the album and I just get bored after a couple of minutes.

I want you is blatently a track of genius... people who think differently misunderstood the point John was making.

He SO f**king wants her, no song before or since has made that point so well.. IMHO...

Too simplistic, too simple for me. Sorry. Compare and contrast with something of the intracacies of Tom Thumb Blues by Bob Dylan, or around that time, and you'll see what I mean.

And a couple of points on the Beatles output as compared to Bob's. There are four Beatles, and only one Bob. And the amount of stuff Bob didn't release in that period which could have gone out is legendary. Stuff like Wallflower, Santa-Fe, Mama you've been on my mind, Sitting on a Barbed Wire Fence, She's Your Lover Now .. all could have strolled onto studio albums.

PLEASE check out the Belarus version of Here There and Everywhere, it transformed my opinion of the song. I don't know anything about the band (I imagine them as some Coldplay-esque thing) but they have now split up. It's a simply stunning version of the track from a brilliant cover album 'Revolver Reloaded'. It also came with the Jesus and Mary Chain doing a mad version of And Your Bird Can Sing.
