I've got a Wednesday-Tuesday stay in the Netherlands for the Lowlands festival (travel price persuaded us to stay an extra night in cheap accomodation, ignoring spending money it works out to be the same price as Wednesday-Monday), followed by a Wednesday-Wednesday stay working at Reading festival.

Excited, but slightly nervous about my future ability to walk. Also, if the tickets I originally bought for Reading arrive late I'm going to have a bitch of a time trying to get them to the friend of a friend I've sold them to.

Green Messengers work Thursday, Monday, and Tuesday, the big catch being that it's a non-negotiable 7am start on Monday.

The deal is that those of us who don't turn up for the induction aren't allowed to work Thursday (because we won't have had the induction), and therefore have to do a shift during the bands. So as long as we keep our side of the bargain, they keep theirs.

I get the train from Reading - Didcot Parkway and back again each day so get a great view of the Reading site and yep they have started work on it - will try to remember to get some pics tomorrow...but they had completed/had the flat base of the main stage in place and all the surrounding green portocabins were up in place as well

Ok, I haven't done this once yet so he's my little release.

I actually can't believe it's so close now! It felt like so far away, yet suddenly it's just around the corner! But yeah, even though there's hardly any bands worth seeing this year I cannot wait one bit!

Ok. Thank you.

I took this photo today while on the train...the weather was pretty shitty around this way today and also it was a high speed train so the quality is not all that great..but can see the portocabins and the base of the main stage....when I came back on the train this evening what looked to be the framework of the sound/light desk for the main stage had gone up

    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
    • And all (or all but one) of the secret sets repeats though?
    • 1. Coming with my sister (our 4th Sziget together) 2. 3 days (Thursday-Saturday). Would rather do Tuesday-Thursday but not enough AL 😞 3. Wednesday evening  4. Apartment  5. FATM (will be my 10th Florence’s gig) 6. Parcels/Paris Paloma
    • Temperature was the main issue - luke warm at best
