I think you are rather wrong here... Smaller bands have headlined before... Arctic monkeys in '07, they got booked even before their second album came out. Basement jaxx in '05, although they were replacing kylie I think?

I've always thought Daft Punk had a huge fan base. But I really doubt it will happen. It would be amazing to see them there, but it won't happen for the 40th Glastonbury. It will be like, 2 old favourites and perhaps a recent favourite or a new headliner all together, but along the same lines as the other headliners. ):

Enough people will be there, maybe not loads of die hards, you'll get loads of floating fans there.

Daft Punk are kinda a let down live....they are just a pretty light show with 2 french dudes who pretend to do stuff in masks.....really its all pre recorded.....its great fun but i wouldnt consider it good enough for Pyramid, could do so much better

I love DP and they would be a dream of mine to see at glasto. Wouldnt care if it was the other stage as i think the sounds better! they could put their pyramid on the other in an act of electronic defiance to the arrogant knob bono pleading for donations on the real pyramid!

Problem is i heard DP arnt fans of england or english fans. Anyone else heard this?

They should play but their ideal slot is as Other stage headliners on the Friday or Sunday night, with the latter being preferable.

Bombard them here (<--- Clicky) and hopefully they'll take notice.

I'm also considering writing a letter a week to the festival office to try and make this happen. You all should as well.

I'd be stunned if there is anyone out there who has seen Daft Punk live and thought they were shit. When I saw them at the 02 festival a few years ago, I really wasn't a fan of them and thought they were a bit cheesy but they blew my head off and for my money are the best live act ever!!!!!

I saw them live and I got bored after about 20 minutes, yes the light show is good, but the music got a bit samey after a while so I left.

When I see an artist I believe there should be a sense that there is actually music being generated on the stage, and I just don't get that from them - they may be mixing the sounds live but they could have been playing solitaire on their laptops for all I knew. Chemical Brothers and Underworld are another two acts that do absolutely nothing for me for the same reasons.

If there was a guitar on stage when I saw them at Bestival last year then it was well hidden. didn't see any musical instruments on stage, just a large mixing desk and half a dozen computers:

Although I did leave about half an hour before the end so could have missed it's appearance.

Great thread! Daft Punk were amazing live when I last saw them, O2 fest in 2007 I think, man was it that long ago!

But they rocked!! Utterly rocked and would be perfect for the pryamid stage
