The "I'm going to torture myself by checking on here regularly" thread...

This is good. Real gooooooood. I'm in a very similar boat gently floating in the lake at the bottom of Pennards in that I've a little 'un due on Saturday (simply the worst planning of all time). Had managed to keep the blues in check quite well up to this week when the urge to head out West was immense. I just wanted to be sick on Wednesday but feeling strangely okay now. Definitely helped by seeing all that rain on the Sky News live feed right now. European Monsoon Wave here we come. Feeling much better now....

I left The Who's set halfway through on Sunday night, after which is HAMMERED it down. I thought 'never again' until I got home, rested and showered and - at 4am - watched the highlights on Sky + and missed being there. Even though it was still throwing it down outside.

Oh man, I remember how absolutely livid I was in 2005 - so I feel for them.

Just let 2010 be dry please.

I know this runs against the tide (honk!) of this thread, but I think the site will be okay - quite heavy rain till 11 then hot sun, the mud will be dry come Sat.

Although I did have a chuckle to myself when I saw the reporter under the gazebo on the BBC this morning.

I'm not so sure - they had one downpour last night, so that'll have been churned up a wee bit. If it's been steady rain for a few hours now, I reckon that could be that until at least Saturday evening, probably more like Sunday. Depends on the length/intensity of it.

I would guess that it'll be worse than 2008 but better than say 2004.

We've not had any rain whatsoever here in the midlands - none last night, none this morning and although it's murky (Well, I'm in Birmingham - it's always murky here  ), there's no rain.

I think they've been incredibly unlucky in Pilton this year.

Poor sods. It's unbelievable - it is now every year since '95 that has had rain. Admittedly some years it has been light and infrequent, but it has never been dry. Surely, surely, next year...

Yeah, quite unbelievable really. I remember my overwhelming feeling in 07, particularly on the Friday, being one of impotent rage at how hideously unlucky we were AGAIN. If there was a god, I would have renounced him.

Sun coming out now, apparently, and they should be fine now for the rest of the weekend. It'll probably end up being remembered as quite as good year.

They were my exact feelings in '05 on the Friday morning. Rage and depression, particularly as I knew the missus was on her way down and heading into a disaster-zone. I was lucky enough to miss '07 - I think it could have been the final straw.

No, there isn't really - ignore the Metcheck forecast, there's no interpretation for the model.

Met Office have been on the money last few days. The site might catch a quick shower later today, but then it's clear until Sunday, when there will only be be very light showers (although that could change).

I call 2008 conditions.
