Car Park/Gates Times

I know it says that gates open at 8am, this may seem a stupid question but is that the gates to the car park or the pedestrian gates? Looking at arriving at the car park about 7.30am and then heading over to the ticket gates. Is that possible?

Last year was pretty bad for queues at the carpark. I was lucky and only waited around an hour, my friend sailed straight through and was onsite in record time, whilst another was stuck for over eight hours queueing to get in the carparks!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Sounds like it's going to be best to get there early...

Would be great if they open up in the early hours though.

We were lucky , managed to get into the E car parks without too much trouble , I think we were

parked up and ready for 9.00 am.

This year we had to walk through some new camper van fields , then through the old ones to PGC

I could not believe how many vans were already on site considering it was early Weds !

:P

I too was lucky, got in probably the same time as you Ivan, and also took the different route through the new campervan fields. As the route was unfamiliar to me, it seemed miles out of the way and confusing! I just looked on the map, and it doesn't look too bad, but some of that route was pretty damn rough fields and pulling the trolley over it wasn't fun.

It was on my second trip back to the car later on in the day that I took a look at the queues. I felt sorry for my mate who was stuck somewhere on that A37, he didn't get onsite until the evening. I had to miss some of my arranged meet-ups, so that I could show him where we'd all camped. When I'd arranged the meet-ups, had no idea that we wouldn't all be onsite by the evening!

I still made it to the eFestivals meet, although I didn't get stickered by Lucy! :P

Sounds like Wednesday morning is going to take a bit of careful planning.

I think I'll stick to the west carparks to avoid the campervan ratelimiting (good way of putting it that).

seen this on anther website

Michael Eavis has announced that the car parks for next year’s festival will open on Tuesday night in the hope that it will prevent the 20-mile tailback which was experienced on the Wednesday of this year’s Glasto.

Portable toilets and food stalls will be available to those who arrive before the gates open at 9am.

Eavis said although people will have to wait in their cars, it will be better than “being lined up by the side of the road for six hours”.

Michael would also like more people to travel there by public transport as it saves “a hell of a lot of traffic and saves a lot of space”.

Hi read this interview for the latest info:

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/read...elvinbenn.shtml

I heard your ideas for Glastonbury Festival to open early for cars next year? Where does that plan currently stand?

That plan currently stands as a submission to Mendip District Council, I don't know exactly when the meeting is I think it's February.

... and that's to open the car parks on Tuesday night with some facilities available in the car parks, and the Festival open its gates on Wednesday?

That's correct.
