Family fields

I camped in the Paines ground off the White Route last year and found it excellent with a good toilet block and lots of metal lanes around. It still got busy but as its on the outskirts of the site there is no through traffic and the toilets stay reasonable. It's worth an extra 5 minutes walk and not far from the carparks.

It seems to be getting more busy in the family field, think 03 was the 1st year in the main family field for us. Plenty of room and it didn`t fill up.Last year got there on wednesday morning as normal and it was full by late wednesday. Luckly my son is now 11 so no need for buggies. Be prepared to lift buggy to your tent.

Have a fantastic time on family field,my son loves every minute of it.

cheers ove.

We were in Cockmill Meadows in 2007 and there was no chance of getting buggies between the tents - best bet is probably the backpack kiddy carrier things!

If you camp by the road, it tends to get mushed up with traffic (if wet) and you have the constant noise of people walking up and down.

If you take a buggy, you may need to carry it in and out from your tent - NB it'll need to be a large wheel one to cope with the paths...

Hope you have a fantastic time

Thanks for the advice! It is a large wheel one - I bought it for the bargain price of £20 last weekend - its a few years old and its had some use but its an all-terrain one with the tyres you blow up and all that. was thinking of a baby carrier too but was hoping to use the buggy at night when he can sleep in it and we can go out and about. Wont camp next to a pathway as seen tents covered in mud before if it rains and the paths get like streams but wont try and get too in the middle - if we get there early enough on the Weds - so its not such a big carry. the pram is quite light - we'll practice in the garden this weekend - do some relays with it - get our arms built up.

Good luck, would only add to practice saying "ooops sorry" as you do your "dry" runs this weekend - those guy ropes are a bugger in the dark! We picked a lovely spot on Wednesday in the family camping (above the disabled camping site last year), by Friday it was like an It's a Knockout course as we made our way back to the tent each night :-) All good natured though - our neighbours would cheer as they saw us weaving and climbing our way back with our son in a buggy held high and our 2yr old daughter walking along side!
