alternative glasonbury

i was wondering if anyone could shed light on a few questions i have.

where would be a good source of info on the non musical type stuff that goes on at the festival, ie things like the hari krishna tent and the 12 step space that i've heard of. also if anyone could shed any light on the druidic rituals that take place of during the festival that would be lovely.

Have a look on the official site, here is a link for the areas, check out the areas within Greenfields make sure you look at all the other areas within the Green fields and perhaps Theatre and Circus.

What SC says, plus head up to the Healing field, Green Futures field and thereabouts, there's all sorts of shenanigans goes on up there. I'm not sure if I've spotted any of yer actual pukka Druids but they'd probably blend in unnoticed

In all honesty the best way to discover the other side of the festival is to head up to the Greenfields and have a good wander around - but also to stop and talk to the the workers/traders up there. There are lots of different craft events during the day inthe Green Crafts and the Green Futures fields will have all sorts of workshops and the like.

As for the pagan/druidic side of things then this tends not to be organised (in my experience) but if you get chatting to people in the Tipi Field and around the Greenfields you will find those with pagan beliefs who may be holding ceremonies that they will welcome you to.

A good place is also the Avalon field where if you talk to the Speaking Tree bookshop people they may be able to give you some direction.

If you're free the weekend before then there is a great druid/pagan ceremony going down at Avebury. Please do join us... but there is no camping this year I'm afraid and parking is scarce so you'll need to find somewhere to stay nearby

Last year after a very hectic weekend, we strolled around the healing fields on Sunday afternoon and although we didn't try anything out I left completely chilled. There's was allsorts of massages and healing techniques happening but it was just like a bubble in all the chaos. I love all the green area and will have to be around there at least a few hours per day. It's agreat way to meet people too because it's such a chill out zone.

Lets face it, the whole of the green area is about the size of the whole Latitude festival so plenty of wonderful experiences to be had
