How so?

were you one of the people who didnt actually read the press releases and interviews and just assume dit was going to be a metal only festival or something. ?

tbh its looking better than I originally thought.

no, I bought my ticket on the first morning, having read every press release, interview, rumour, and watched the video about this being a festival with a "quality not quantity" ethos, and about how all the other festivals had shit, cheap setups, and how stuart galbraith was lining up something amazing - a top notch lineup with no waiting for stage times, and an excellent setup facilities wise, with a third stage in the campsite.

the line up was at the time

metallica

linkin park

mastodon

log

iirc, so i thought there was going to be a diverse lineup of classy acts - so I suggested to the wife it might be a good one for her to make her first festival.

since then there has been a stream of bands the wife would hate, and she has decided not to go.

I'm not saying I measure a festivals quality by how much my wife would like it - in fact the reverse is the case!

what I am saying is that I was hoping for some slightly more mainstream (bigger) bands such as qotsa and placebo, and maybe even FNM before they got announced for DL.

I think the lineup is very limited, and I dont believe they have anything big left up their sleeves.

give us some big names and I will take this back.

and the top and bottom of it is - unless they are gonna have people feeding me grapes whilst I watch Mastodon - I dont see where my £180 has gone? I just paid £180 for 3 days at download with a different (but about equal quality wise IMHO) lineup.

I expected more for 175 and only 2 days with only 2 stages. I've said before, this is no stronger than a regular dl or reading line up (without the choice or extra day). I see the Metallica day being amazing and the linkin park day being shite!

People were hoping for tool and placebo and were clearly way off the mark. Think smaller! For me the line up has fallen short of my expectaions. I expected it to wipe the floor with DL and it just doesn't.

if that is what you think, i suggest you go back and read my post more carefully, the bill is nothing special, it wouldnt look out of place on the download poster, we were told to expect better by stuart galbraith himself, and he hasnt delivered. stop being his apologist and face the facts, outside of the 3 top acts there is NOTHING special on that bill.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
