Tents?

Hi there,

Got my ticket, now onto the tent!

I need a 3 man tent max I would like to spend is about £60 (maybe more if that is completely impossible).

I dont mind where i get it from. Anyone got any recommendations?

I don't want to risk it. I'm after one that is water proof, as ive heard bad stories about those tents .

me and 2 mates got a 4 man tent from Halfords about 4 years ago. it did 3 festivals and it was fine. twas quite big too.

it got destroyed when we were camping on the isle of wight last may and it blew an absolute gale!

and yes, get one that is (or claims to be) waterproof, it does sometimes rain during reading!

There is pretty good tents from argos a 4 man tent one for 25 another for 30 ant there is also one for 100 all i think are waterproof

ive been past 2 years and both times ive bought the cheapest tent fro asda/tescos and been totally fine and the mud in 07 was terrible n my tent still survived

I always fine that having one that you can stand up in (almost) is super handy but I've seen some super tiny tents! One of my mates has a tent that looks like one a kid would have drawn (two poles, bit of string and a sheet over the top) That tent will be on its 10th year this year! Depends what your comfortable with. I have a 4 man tent with two sleeping areas. Me and my boyfriend sleep in one end and keep all our crap in the other!

You shouldn't be disappointed, my Vango Beta 350 has lasted about 5 years and 15 festivals so far without a single problem. Nice and lightweight, strong, waterproof.

mine has lasted 10 years at festivals, that was a £35 job from Millets, two man perfect for me and all my crap! It may be its last year this year as its getting a bit frail, would defo get another the same tho!

4 person and an amazing tent. 3 people and bags wont fit in a 3 man tent.

Get one with a hydrostatic head rating of 1500mm or better. This is the pressure the material can take from the elements before giving up and treating you to a moist awakening.

The higher the number, the better. Most decent tents are about 3000mm. This way, if you put it up properly and don't go f**king with the sides you won't get wet, regardless of how badly it rains.

Argos ones are risky, you never know if something's missing until it's too late. I know someone who bought one from there, box was dodgy but that was all they had, and when it came to pitching the tent they had no pegs.

At least with the cheap supermarket ones, if it looks like it's been tampered with, you can grap one that hasn't been.

BIGGER IS BETTER!!!!

I have a 6 man tent for me and my gal and it has been to 6 festivals and is still going strong.

If it's hot outside you can still sleep without it bein to uncomftable and if it rains you can have a good 10 people in your tent to smoke and get f***** up.

I would avoid cheap tents as you will regret it when the weather turns ( and it will)

Pop up tents can be good but always get at least a 3 man or you will have no room and will end up getting f***** off soon enough.

Start buying now as well because the closer it gets the prices go up and the availability goes down.

one more thing BUY SOME WELLIES!!!!

They are a god send when it gets muddy and it is easier then watching where your walking.

We have a gelert tornado 3 man, cost about £40 new off ebay and its spot on. Its a good size and is surprisingly light, its also quicker and easier to put up than my old two man tent, one person can easily put it up in a few minutes.

Ive already tested the bags, they are comfy, roll mats still to be tried out, and the tent looks standard as!
