The Third Headliner

I'd prefer Nickelback to Muse, but I'd watch them both. I'd prefer neither though. I don't think it'll be Blink, thank Christ.

I'm going for GnR or Rammstein at the moment. GnR, just because of those 'unofficial' dates and the coincidence of Donington being the Friday; Rammstein, because Neil still has them as a weak rumour. I think he knows but can't say, and if it wasn't going to be Rammstein he would surely have taken them down by now...?

I know I put forward Rage in an earlier post but since they've added the countdown clock & are making a big deal out of this announcement I'm convinced it's GnR. RATM would fit with the nu-metal/rap-metal of Korn & Limp, someone mentioned in another thread that Motley Crue are playing 2nd from top on the Friday which would act as the bridge between Korn, Limp & then GnR. Would Rammstein be too big to headliner the 2nd stage? Maybe for all the people who aren't into Leppard?

Don't think QOTSA would warrant a countdown...

In terms of bands not getting much of a mention what about: Sex Pistols, Queen and the guy who's name I can't remember, The Rolling Stones (lol, how epic would that be!), Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Smashing Pumpkins?!

Can all of the above be ruled out? (Obviously some of them can!)

Edit: if Neil knows I wonder if I can tempt him into a game of "headliner guess who"!

I think I would pretty much pee myself if it was Rammstein. But I totally doubt they will be. They best not put a count down for a whole week, get me all excitable and then go and announce FOB. That would just be like the biggest wind up ever.

I vaguely remeber last year someone "official" saying that download had already booked a headliner for 2009 at great expense. Rammstein a decent maybe?

Slipknot do fit that statement because its the anniversary this year. but im throwing it in to be proven wrong.

Anyone else remeber this though?

bekimo, i would upscale you, i would happerly sh*t myself in excitement if it were rammstein.

I reckon the majority will be happy as long as its not Nickelback or Falloutboy

If its any of these the moans will be minimal: Rammstein, Blink 182, Green Day, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, RATM, SOAD (you never know!), NIN, Iron Maiden.

There are so many reasons that a reformed GNR won't play.

AC/DC are more likely even though they have a show on the friday!

Doesn't rule out Axl Rose and his karaoke pub band though...

I reckon smart moneys on Rammstein, maybe Green Day as it's only one date so the could still do their own shows later in the summer, seems like too much fuss to be FOB or Nickelback but I refuse to rule them out.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
