i need help! i am a flag newbie and am making a flag for this year.

I have yet to acquire my telescopic pole and what not.

my question is: how do you attach the flag pole to the ground? is it with a spike or what?

may seem a daft question but i am quite miffed as what to buy to do so :S

any help would be apprieciated. Thankyou

I thinks it's a 10 meter that we could only extend to 8 safely. We just thought f**k it big=good so we'll just do it. Many a mashed pennard hill camper was thankful for it.

I think we'll be more creative with flags this year

Right, ordered my flag this afternoon so hopefully it should be here for the start of next week. Couple of questions. Last year I used Dylon fabric pens which were ok but a bit faint. This year I think I'll need to use paint to get the colours I need, am I best using Dylon fabric paint? Any other suggestions for good brands?

Also whilst I am here, for those that use fairy lights to brighten up your flag pole, what size of cable do you have? I have a 7m pole but the only lights I can see at a reasonable price only have a 3.5m cable. :)

Am yer man here :)

I posted earlier in the thread the paint I used the past couple years, search back mate. Comes in loads of colours/effects and is fairly cheap. Goes on well and lasts for ages :)

Also I have 5 metre pole and use 2 sets of lights to go right up :)

But got new lights at 4 metres long so just going to use one set of them. Link on eBay below

They are good quality, take around a week to arrive. They flash too :D

See my edit for a link to said paint.

Aye got it at Hobbycraft at the Fort, ยฃ3 a tub I think it was.

They are pretty waterproof. The 2 sets I got for 2007 season still work plus 2 sets from last year :)

Add the 3 sets of those lights off eBay and we will have planes landing at eFest Camps this year :)

I'd go for the ones I linked.. they also do 1 colour ones.. works out cheaper from Hong Kong

Glastonbury without the flags just wouldn't be the same. I think they're great, though never took one myself.

But find they're certainly useful navigation aids after numerous toilet breaks!!!

ill post an image if i can get it on here from my phone :)

get an a4 sheet, and count out your flag with it. it will be around 3 sheets tall and probably a bit more than 6 wide.
