Right a million thoughts/threads floating around so realistically who do we predict the headliners will be on the

V stage

CH4 stage

JJB

After having many a thought on this matter I'm gonna place bets on following (no evidence just gut feeling so probably be completely wrong lol)

V stage - Blur / Radiohead

CH4 - Kasiaban / Faithless

JJB - Orbital / Franz Ferdinand

Could be completely wrong but it will be interesting to see who is closest when we find out in early March :0)

Answers on a postcard peeps....

Oxegen have just announced their headliners and from what I recall their headliners nearly always match V's.

They have The Killers, Kings of Leon and Snow Patrol. That does seem to be a typical V headlining trio but I'd love to have seen Blur instead of the Killers

There is absolutely no way that the Arctics are anything other than headline material. Apart from the fact that they're absolutely phenomenal live, and have anthems coming out of places most of us don't have places...they ain't playing that many gigs this year...apart from festivals.

Reckon so far...if I was buying a ticket...'Mercury' has the best shout...

blur/arctic monkeys

faithless/jay z

kasabian/the enemy

beastie boys/elbow

For me...that would be a phenomenal line...wouldn't be too fussed about Blur...only ones I wouldn't see would be Blur, The Beasties and Kasabian. Although to be fair, I've seen them all live (except Beasties) and not been disappointed by any of them.

What are they on now album 5?

Cus the latest album hasn't sold that well, 424,000 copies it had sold by the end of 2008, it was a big seller but in 2008 Amy Winehouse with an old album back to black outsold it, as did bands nowhere near headline status like Girls Aloud, Adele, Pink, Scouting For Girls, even the Script, Duffy was the biggest selling album of 2008 with 1,683,944, nearly 4 times the amount of Snow Patrol

Based on that theres no way in hell Snow Patrol should headline, I don't even think they're worthy of 2nd on the main stage, put them in the JJB, let them headline that I say

It's very unlikely that Arctic Monkeys will be at V this year, they're pretty much nailed on for Reading according to efests. It's a shame, cos I reckon they're more suited to V than Reading, but go figure. Same situation as Kings Of Leon, but perhaps they are more of a Reading/Leeds band. I also reckon it might be too soon for The Killers' return, but who knows? Too difficult to guess this year I think.

Oh how depressing. Too much indie.

I'm feeling a little blurry headed this morning, my bad it's afternoon, but is V usually really this indie band orientated? As I recall they usually have some variation, or I could just be too drunk to notice what the hell the line up is usually like! Fingers crossed for some Jay Z, Pendulum or Faithless etc... to save me from scary Oasis/Blur etc... void.

***ducks behind sofa to hide from torrent of abuse that is bound to follow tired and very grumpy post as above***

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
