Maybe it's just that kids are dumber nowadays having rotted their brains playing computer games, unlike the kids of the past who could follow a storyline from one week to the next and could actually wait for the regeneration episode to be aired now they have to keep up the hype because they have such a short attention span

Kids definatly arnt getting stupider, stuff that used to be Alevel science is now on GCSE papers and people say the exams are getting easyer...

A lot of computer games also have complex story lines.

I can never notice that girls hair - her entire visage is just way too distracting. My housemate and I gift each other with pictures of Rumer when things aren't going quite as well as they should for us - nothing can cheer you up like a chin with legs!

He looks like a total fruitloop, especially the waving of the hands during interviews. It's all good IMHO.

That's kind. I've been away and have only just seen this.

I'll wait to pass judgement until I've seen it, that much is for sure. I get the feeling that the show is in safe hands. The Doctor should be quirky. It's part of his appeal. The role isn't a action hero type role.

I thought Ecclestone was only ever going to do one season. Something about having a big name to launch it before finding a relative unknown.

Anyhow, it won't be as bad as Colin "shouty" Baker whatever happens.

I agree with RTD - it's essentially the same. Some of the hammy acting (in particularly the companions and minor parts) has gone, and the effects have improved but otherwise it's not that different in terms of content to how it started 45 years ago.

There were grisly scenes in the Colin Baker years (Vengeance On Varos?) but there were also some quite heavy scenes in the new series 3 (the Doctor erasing his memory in the schoolteacher episode).

There have always been darker as well as quirky stories.

Kinda gave me nightmares for years after I watched it as a kid. Still spooks me, thought it's probably more to do with a reaction to my earlier memories of it if that makes sense.

I'm hoping for a Black Guardian Story Arc at some point.

Yeah - when the Doctor throws a baddie into an acid bath. Pretty horrific! I was only about 4 when that came out and it's one of my first memories. I thought Sil was a slug!

A story arc would be good - maybe the specials this year will have one?

Being full of cold, and unemployed, I watched Trial of a Time Lord in it's entirity earlier in the week. I hadn't seen the second Sil story.

TOATL has it's moments, certainly. Just a shame Mel had to be written into it. I actually think parts of the courtroom scenes are Colin Baker's strongest moments.
