  1. Been listening to Phoebe Bridgers. She sounds ace! I hope they don't stick her on a big stage where her sound gets lost.
  2. The 'ring fencing' technique was just one thing that has come out of the conversation. All I was suggesting at the start was that something more should be done. More campaigning, awareness-building, and other schemes may well be a better idea.
  3. Eh? Why would someone who didn't want to go get a ticket? And why would Glastonbury give them a subsidised holiday to somewhere else? And you seem to be confusing a handout with an affordable price. I've already said that I volunteer, and that's how I get in. I enjoy it, but spaces are competitive for new folk, and a lot of people aren't aware of the opportunity. But why should a less privileged person have to clean up a rich boy's feces, and miss most of the festival? Especially when they probably spend most of their time working a shit job anyway.
  4. There's a good solid handful there that I'd be really excited about seeing. Of course, there are many more that I'm not interested in, but you can only be at one place at a time anyway, so you don't want too much on your to do list ☺️
  5. 1. As mentioned before, they keep expanding the site to allow more people to attend. If, say, they have an increase of a few thousand in 2025, why not do something with those tickets? And it is a good cause in itself. It's good for communities. 2. Of course there are ways. Less privileged people are identified in society all the time. I've been on jobseekers allowance, and I'm sure many people here have too. It's quantifiable. 3. People who have a problem with it don't have to go. More spaces for everyone else, and the festival would be better for it.
  6. Listened to Haim on Qobuz in the garden. Such a good band. Perfect for a sunny field in Pilton.
  7. Sorry if I was patronising. I thought I was being unifying. I never said it needs to be sorted this week, but don't say it's impossible, because it isn't. Are you saying you fall into the "do nothing" category?
  8. Lots of great points and suggestions, and it's encouraging to see that (most) people are at least in agreement that something needs to be done. I'm sure there are a thousand and one different methods, and there are people much more capable of us (well, me), who could think of some great schemes to make improvements. Shrugging and saying 'nothing can be done, let's go on as we are' isn't the solution. I volunteer too. It's a great way to get it. But it can be quite competitive to get in for new folks, and some people wouldn't see it as a holiday. We're straying into the less affluent cleaning up the Rick girls and boys' shit again.
  9. The festival has had a covid hit, so let the rich girls and boys go wooping around their hedonistic paradise without having to look at the poor folk? This seems to be supporting the trend of the poorest being affected the most by economic downturns. And as for people preferring the money went somewhere else, that seems to suggest that Glasto would be forcing someone to go to the festival 😅 it would only be people who wanted to do, obviously. And besides, the arts and creativity help fulfil the basic needs. The less entitled need wellbeing too.
  10. Apart from lowering the price for the people that can't afford it. And socioeconomic class and race are inextricably linked. It shouldn't be treated as two separate issues. It wouldn't be an easy thing to fix, but a festival with the ethos of Glastonbury needs to lead the way. And yeah, they need to fix the shite sound at The Other Stage
  11. Yeah, which is something that can be easily done. They keep expanding the site year after year to allow more people in. If they can do that for financial gain, they can do it for other reasons.
  12. The same reason there are schemes to allow ethnic minorities to enjoy national parks. Many people feel that some places are "not for them", or that they wouldn't be welcome, because they see a sea of white faces on the TV (I'm sure white people would feel the same way if things were reversed). It stunts inclusivity, and you get while sections of society unable to enjoy something. Glastonbury shouldn't just be for the privileged.
  13. I'm not the ideas person, but when Glasto decides to do something, it happens e.g. when they banished plastic from all the vendors. I'm sure there are schemes they can do in underprivileged areas to give a quota of free tickets away (the way they hold tickets back for competitions). I'm sure there are better methods that someone could think of.
  14. Encourage a broader range of racial and social classes to attend. Festivals are becoming ever more white and middle class - Glasto isn't the worst. WOMAD is shameful, considering the diverse music it represents (then the only people of colour you see are cleaning the portaloos). Glasto needs to lead the way on this issue and do more.
  15. Some lovely weather the last few days. Really gets you into the Glasto spirit,☺️
  16. It'll soon be tent testing time ☺️ bring on that dry weather!
  17. Picard S2 has just started. I thought the first series was good (and I'm not a Trekkie or anything), and it seems like S2 is following suit.

    Lost Horizons

Agreed, this place is brilliant. I've seen some really talented musicians here, and the food is reasonably priced and tasty 👍👍👍
  19. All day breakfast in a tin. I prefer them cold 😋 Ps. Check it has a ring pull
  20. Has anyone got any back strengthening exercises they could share? Preferably lower/middle back 👍

    2022 Must Sees

No must sees for me. I'm going with a baby for the first time, so I'm going to be seeking the most chilled places, and just wandering around seeing the random things that entertain her ☺️ Although, it would be cool for her to see Macca (but she'll probably be asleep by then (should he be asleep by then?))
