  3. I think the undercard is strong. Overall plenty to see, just a lack of big names, which is typical of every festival this year.
  4. Saw 86 TV's last night and thought they were excellent.

    2024 Headliners

All except 1 of my group are fans of at least 2 of their albums and a few other songs at least. Add to the fact that they know how to put on a show and you can probably see why they sell out massive shows.
  6. Ok, I was just quickly scanning over on my lunch break. I know how easy it is to come across wrong on places like this. Not defending anyone just saying it's hard to see what people really mean or what their intentions are.
  7. I'm not sure but I read "let it happen" as in the announcement rather than making it on a celebratory day.
  8. I have strangely fond memories of that James set as it was mine, my wife's and my dad's first Glastonbury and nothing, not the mud or the Brexit news was going to spoil our fun. I remember waiting for the tractor to do what it needed to do and then for James to come on. I really enjoyed the set as I like it when bands play new songs (who wants the same songs over and over again?) My dad, who admits he kind of lost interest in all new music by the mid 90's, loved it despite only knowing a couple of songs. He went on to buy that album and when we went to Beautiful Days and they played there he was insistent on seeing James and being close ish. We came away from that Glastonbury gig with my dad saying, "that James fella has some good tunes don't he", with me replying, "they're a band." That has never truly sunk in with my dad but he still brings up that moment on a regular basis to this day. The next few days didn't matter that Brexit had happened because for my dad especially, we were in the best place in the world, music soothing our souls and trying it's best to make us forget the mud. The gig at Beautiful Days was technically better but the best moment was at that Glastonbury gig.
  9. Great if it works, as in being reliable.
  10. I tend to be fine finding people and my tent etc, it tends to be the people in my group who have no sense of direction and are mostly all technophobic. Mostly my argument for flags is selfish because of my heavy interest (probably due to my autism) in flags. I literally go around all day at festivals quizzing myself. 😂
  11. Got one thanks! Although it does tend to stay at the campsite.
  12. Thanks! I assume they don't work or work less well if you have poor or no signal? I was aware of these apps etc but am not a fan, but I suppose they'll be useful at festivals as long as they work well enough.
  13. Sorry, I'm probably being dumb but I don't know what you mean.
  14. Phone coverage has always been unreliable for me or some of my group. Also when they do work the conversation isn't much good: "Yeah, I'm here by that guy tye dye top." "Which one, there's thousands!" 😂
  15. Flags should stay. They're great for finding people, adds to the atmosphere and are interesting to look at. Well I would say that as I'm autistic and happen to have a huge interest in flags. 😂

    2024 Headliners

I've seen KOL a few times, mainly at festivals and although only been great once (touring their first album), they've been good enough each time and I have been surprised by how many songs the crowds have known. I've seen other acts who have headlined Glastonbury with smaller crowds and looking like they don't know as much. For example, I thought the Cure was amazing and I knew their songs but I was the only person in our group that knew more than 5 songs and certainly the other people around us didn't know too much. KOL are just one of those bands where everyone knows them and a few of their songs straight off, but couldn't give names of many more songs, despite millions of people owning their albums. I think that is the fault of radio stations as they never seem to play anything other than Use Somebody or Sex is on Fire.

    2024 Headliners

Their tour and overall music sells suggest they could easily headline. So many people clearly judge who is headline material by their taste.

    2024 Headliners

We were supposed to have a good battering but not too bad by all accounts. I managed a walk for 2 hours in complete dry.

It's easy to get like it. I imagine we've all been there. Have a good one.

    2024 Headliners

I came on here, saw the topic was hot, hoped for some potentially interesting news and all I find is a a couple of pernickety people arguing over another festival. Some of the points are valid (inflation causing issues around the world and the struggle for festivals to book big headliners) which weirdly it seems you pretty much agree on yet you still argue! I can only work out that you disagree in music taste and what you consider good headliners, which among adults should be fine and not turned into arguments and insults. It's the nitpicking that's the worst. I know it's tough not having any Glastonbury line up news but can't you just go on a nice Sunday stroll, see family/friends, listen to music, watch a film, read a book, argue on X or doom scroll on Instagram?

    2024 New Music

The Folly Group album is good.
  23. Yes to this. Support the small independent venues and the acts playing in them. So much good live music for a fraction of the cost. Record store supported shows are a great way of seeing a well known act at a fraction of the price and in better venues.

    2024 New Music

I suppose it's similar to a lot of bands/artists from that era. I think, despite them looking likely to get to number 1, they are an underrated band. I can't think of a bad album.
