  1. Hoping Pulp will get booked as MSW headliners but that will probably never happen, even though they went down an absolute storm in 2011.
  2. Would be silly if so, the guy apologised and edited his post.
  3. 2022 thread binned off again? Something's up.
  4. The bands I named aren't really Indie and are in a similar ballpark to Biffy Clyro. They will definitely have some crossover appeal with the crowd.
  5. Because Reading and Leeds has been turned into V.
  6. A good move would be to get a headliner with crossover appeal, such as QOTSA or Royal Blood.
  7. If RATM get booked again I can see them becoming something of a meme.
  8. Any time someone on this board is discussing someone they don't like who is a white male, especially musical acts, they always feel the need to mention that they're white men as if it's some kind of negative personality trait. It's really weird.
  9. Going by my only experience of Download being a day in 2019 (Tool and Pumpkins) it does have a pretty relaxed and unintimidating atmosphere. But we've had problems with violence at festivals over here too. Remember the reason Leeds is at its current site is because there were riots every year at the old site and it had to be moved.
  10. They probably could have headlined around the time of Hypnotize/Mesmerise tbf, and if I recall they were rumoured to headline in 2006. But yeah, no way are they a Reading and Leeds headliner in 2022. "Took the piss" meaning they were bad? I didn't go in 2013 but by all reports they were one of the best acts of the weekend, even though Serj's voice sounded gone on the BBC highlights.
  11. Good shout, but I'll be disappointed if those are their only UK dates. They need to play up North somewhere.

    Pulp to return in 2023

Yeah, the title track is my favourite song of theirs. Such a left turn from the Different Class sound. His N' Hers is great of course, it has that proto-DC sound but feels more raw and unpolished, and Acrylic Afternoons is one of my all time favourites. Also We Love Life which was a beautiful swansong. A rare example of a band who went on a run of four consecutive outstanding albums. Most artists barely make it to two. What a band. So happy I am getting another chance to see them.

    Pulp to return in 2023

This Is Hardcore is their best album, and the lyrics make more sense the further into my 30s I get...

    Pulp to return in 2023

So, so happy about this news. I missed two opportunities to see them last time around (Leeds and Sheffield) and I felt that would be a regret I would take to my grave. So glad I now have another chance, and so there is no way am I going to miss out on this! I'm expecting them to do some kind of homecoming show in Sheffield (along with the rumoured Leadmill gig). Outdoor show, the arena or even headlining Tramlines. Whatever. I'll be there!
  15. They're almost nailed on to do a big homecoming show in Sheffield I think. Tramlines could be a good shout, or they might just do their own open air gig. I think they'll do at least one of the major UK fests. Glastonbury would be an obvious choice, maybe TRNSMT too. Like I say R&L might not be as possible given how much the festival has changed down the years, but they weren't the most "fashionable" act when they were booked for 2011 and still went down a storm. I'm living in hope the organisers will at least go for them!
  16. So Pulp are reforming. I know people on here will claim the current demographic won't "get them", but their set in 2011 was phenomenal by all accounts, and surely even the young 'uns would know Common People. Decent shout for MSW headliner if R&L bother with going for them..
  17. I think Sam Fender will probably take a break from touring throughout most of next year, or at least when R&L is on. I'd say he's more likely to be there in 2024, and if his next album is a success he will definitely headline MSE.
  18. Odd to see them play Testify a bit further into the setlist, it was always the opening song if not second when they'd occasionally open with Bombtrack. Either way I'm really excited now. Watched some videos of their performance at the weekend and they're as energetic and powerful as they ever were. Bring on August.
  19. On the flip side, sometimes that can lead to them becoming actual fans of the artist. I myself have done that. Gone to see an artist at a festival who I don't really know much of besides the famous songs, or even that I'm not a fan of, and ended up really getting into them afterwards.
  20. How dare people prefer certain other artists to mainstream pop singers!

But then they still have enough songs with references to dicks and fisting themselves! I'm still waiting for them to include Lateralus in their setlists again.

You could say the same when Tool play songs from Lateralus live😉

I could listen to Jarvis read from, and sing the contents of, the phonebook. Still holding out hope that I'll finally get the chance to see Pulp in my lifetime.
