  1. I remember watching some of the 2002 World Cup final on the Pyramid stage screens - maybe the second half. Manu Chao was due on stage around halfway through the final, but (apparently) "refused" to go on until the game was finished.
  2. Is the "Pilton Party means they are playing Glasto next year" thing still a thing? If so, that would seem to count The Streets and Arlo Parks in for Glastonbury 2024.

In the UK at least, Dave is both decently commercially successful, but also VERY critically acclaimed. He had an Ivor Novello at 20, the Mercury Prize at 21, and has won Brits on each of his album cycles. But what he doesn't really have, is a dozen or so songs (or even half a dozen) that most people at a festival would know. Which makes a Pyramid headline quite difficult I think (although the same could arguably be said of Kendrick Lamar, or even Billie Eilish). He does put on a great show though - this from last year's Brit Awards was a standout for me:

Dave was responsible for one of THE viral Glastonbury moments of recent years. Headlined Reading + Leeds since then too. Definitely in the conversation, but IMO wouldn't quite fit with Dua Lipa headlining too - that would be 2 pretty "early career" (vs "established") headliners, which I don't think they'd go for.
  5. Avril Lavigne's tour dates, plus the recent policy of booking people like Carly Rae Jepsen, make her very likely IMO. I also wonder if there might be some Lavigne/Rodrigo coming together - both sets of dates have a suspicious hole around Glastonbury, and they are known mutual admirers.
  6. At peak times in the morning (say 8-10am), they can be long - maybe 15-20mins for the loos, and 30-40 for a shower. Outside those times, there is next to no queue for the toilets, and usually pretty short queues for showers.
  7. Not done WV so only have Sticklinch as a reference point. Parking is in the next field, so 5mins to tents. I've seen people complain about the length of walk to stages etc - our group (including kids) didn't mind this, especially as its pretty flat. If you get a half decent march on, you are in the Other Stage field in 10mins. Which means (for example) that a pit stop at the tent can easily be done in the time it takes for an Other Stage band changeover. My only complaint about 2023 at least, is that there is no bar in Sticklinch, and the food options get a bit boring (and have big queues at breakfast time). Which does then mean that you are a fair wait from a morning coffee, if you don't want to wait in the queues there.

Lana's BST date was 50k tickets. Liam is doing 4x O2 next June - 80k tickets. Blink 182 did 2x O2 last month, and could have done more (they sold out instantly) - so that's 40k tickets. Fred did 5x Ally Pally in September - 50k tickets Gerry Cinnamon (at least down South), and Catfish are a level below that - but the 3 other "big" headliners are at least Lana level.

Press release seemed to suggest Fred + LDR (with Fred as the proper headline, not Lana); Liam + Catfish; and Blink + Gerry Cinnamon.
  10. Even if that is true, wouldn't the "Fleetwood Mac" paycheque be significantly different to the "Stevie Nicks" paycheque? Which could mean that even if the former is completely out of reach, the latter may well be doable?

    SZA

Whilst it may well be true that she'd want Pyramid headline or nothing - she's no bigger than Lana Del Rey (both did around 80k tickets in London last summer) - so isn't Other headline or Pyramid sub her realistic level? Which then makes it a question of whether their respective views can be aligned!

Most summers for the few years pre-Covid, you could have seen Elton at a variety of county cricket grounds around the country - was by no means a hard ticket to get. Covid (and the desire of everybody to go out and have experiences afterwards), plus farewell tour, upped the desirability of seeing him considerably.
  13. SZA would be fantastic - suspect her album might win big at the Grammys, so hopefully they can lock her in before that!
  14. Next year will be my 10th time, going back to 2002. Bit more jealous of my (soon to be) 10yr old, who will be making her 4th appearance on the farm.
  15. I mean, with it being the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe; AND Liam finishing his tour on the Friday; AND it also being 30 years since Oasis's now legendary Sunday lunchtime Other Stage slot - it doesn't feel THAT unlikely that there might be something going on. Would be very surprised if that involved Noel though.
  16. Ok, we can debate forever who the message of "check your registration" was aimed at. I checked in early October that mine were still there, despite doing what they asked in September (and receiving confirmation). Not checking in October shows a level of trust in See Tickets that (evidently) was much higher than justified! And plenty on here seem to have been doing the same - checking regularly, despite having had confirmation that their registration would be retained.
  17. There's a bit more to it than that - because you don't know who from your group of 6 is going to get through. Lots of groups work on the basis that everybody has £450 in their account, does the payment if they get through, then collects the money later. Admittedly, you could collect the £450 into one person's account, and that person's details get used whoever gets through - but that does add an extra thing that could go wrong!
  18. People WERE asked to check again - an email on 17th Oct, a tweet on 30th Oct, and the ticket page has said for the last month that people should check!
  19. They may not have ignored the need to confirm registration by 30th September. But have certainly ignored messages saying to check your registration during October. Plenty did that, found they didn't have one, and re-registered.
  20. I'm not calling anybody a thicko. But everybody has had a month to check they still have a registration. Not having done so until this week, displays an enormous amount of faith in See Tickets not to f**k up, which is (evidently) misplaced!

Green Day are a UK Festival Exclusive for Isle of Wight, yes. Would you like to guess who were a European Festival Exclusive for last year's Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park, but still played Glastonbury anyway?
  22. This was Glastonbury's last tweet before today - from Monday this week. I confirmed my reg, and got a confirmation email for that. But I also knew they were going to delete a load of registrations in early October, so anybody could/should have checked that they still had a registration on the other side of that. People suddenly finding they have no registration, have had a month to have checked this, and ignored multiple reminders to do exactly that!
  23. Well, you'll see when you go to the ticket page and try to buy tickets.... https://glastonbury.seetickets.com/
  24. I care because there are lots of people trying, and not enough tickets to go around. This will give more people a chance to be involved in the sale - which is not good for anybody who was all set and ready to go for today/Sunday's sales.
