  1. Also don't forget that across the 5 main stages, Glastonbury aim for a roughly 50/50 gender split. Given that the pool they are fishing in on the "female" side of that split is smaller, I'd say that makes Alvvays quite a bit more likely to play. And, given their other dates plus @gfa's other comments - I'd be really surprised if they weren't there.
  2. It happened (of sorts) in 2015 when Florence stepped up. I still think that if they decided they needed at least one female Pyramid headliner, Dua Lipa (despite not being on tour, and especially given the Elton John connection) would 100% step up and do the job.
  3. I agree, and think the pair of Irish dates all but rule him out - but I also wouldn't be surprised if he is in the middle of dropping a new album by next summer.
  4. I reckon Lizzo has to be favourite for this - her tour dates align as well. Aren't Pulp a better shout to sub on the Arctic Monkeys day, given the Sheffield connection? Agree that Dua Lipa is headline material now - and still think she's an obvious shout if they decide they need at least one female headliner.

    Blur

So the Blur presale email is interesting. "Ticket prices start at £65 plus ticket agent fees (pay no more than 10%)." Then you look at the See Tickets website, with their prices - none of which have fees that are even close to as low as 10%! https://www.seetickets.com/event/blur/wembley-stadium/2467247?utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=57434&utm_content=Loyalty&awc=7816_1668539039_a602b29a4e84ad187208dfef266ef0c8&AFF=aw Golden Circle has £21.50 of booking fees, on top of a £125 face value! So either they don't know that their ticket agents are padding the prices, or something else is going on... Blur

Totally agree - there is nothing legal in this. And no mention of it from Blur - only Live Nation. I don't believe it for a second. I really don't believe that one date at Wembley will be their only UK performance - a second Wembley date, as well as UK warmup shows beforehand, are all very likely. Plus Glastonbury have a whole load of ways to avoid cannibalising Blur's ticket sales if needed. Could be a secret set, could not announce until Blur have sold out, could even not announce until MUCH nearer the time.
  7. Wasn't the issue more that they had to do these new mandatory steps to authenticate online payments - which seemed to make things fall over? Not sure if they switched that off in the end (I didn't get to a payment page myself).
  8. Added this the other day, when their UK/Euro dates were announced. Think they are a very strong bet for Sunday somewhere...
  9. Think this is real, but from around 2015-ish.
  10. Has there been chat about the (very distressing) possibility of a George Ezra headline slot? He has a big GSH from 17-29 June, and is playing other shows nearby. Subbed the Pyramid in 2019 in front of a HUGE crowd, then did the JP secret set in 2022 (which is often a sign of a "proper" slot next time). And there aren't really many places to go from his 2019 Pyramid slot.... I sincerely hope there is nothing in this - would be disappointed but not at all surprised if he turned up though.
  11. I'll happily help on this - have requested edit access.
  12. I don't think there are any compelling alternatives, which are THAT obviously better than the current way. And of course everybody is in favour of the system that generally gives them the best chance of getting what they want. Ballot - no thanks - aren't there 2m+ people registered? Smaller groups - even going down to 4 would (for example) mean that a family of 5 couldn't go. What I DO think could absolutely have been improved yesterday, was the tech infrastructure once people got onto the site. All the stories of payments failing etc - very poor. You don't get to have a holding page which only lets a specifed number of people into the booking area, then get to make excuses about overcapacity once inside! They control the "gate" (and how many people can get through it) - so if the "field" is too crowded, they've only themselves to blame!
  13. Looking at the number of bands who are in the approximate area but NOT billed for Glastonbury, it feels like there are a LOT of acts (at all levels, across all days) who might be "on the bench" in case of Covid cancellations. Harry Styles, Kings Of Leon, Green Day, Weezer, The War On Drugs, Dua Lipa, Rag N Bone Man, Jack White, Paolo Nutini, Pixies, Lewis Capaldi, Beck, Alt-J, Michael Kiwanuka, Jamie XX, Keane, Royal Blood, Maneskin, Pearl Jam - all playing nearby in the days around the festival, but NOT playing Glastonbury. This doesn't even include some of the big "secret set" rumours like Arcade Fire, The Smile, Chemical Brothers - who presumably could turn into a "billed" act if needed. Plus there are big acts in early or "smaller than they could carry off" slots (Blossoms, Libertines), who could move around. I suspect there are a lot of acts they could call on in reserve, if they had late cancellations - more than usual at this time of year!
