  1. Wasn't sure 🙂 So less of a saving than if they were to have him headlining Other in 2020 (assume an Other headline gets more £ than Park)
  2. Free headliner for them? Assume they're paying next to nothing if they are indulging him with this. On one hand there's (normally) so many other options at headliner time - so if you're not fussed go elsewhere - on the other, Park deserves better than a 'harmless' headliner...
  3. Only proper time was arriving during Royal Blood then XX -> Radiohead. The killer at Pyramid is there is a full hour between sub and headliner - might not mind so much if there were constant bands on. Once Royal Blood finished and everyone shifted position as best they could, everyone round me sort of looked at each other in a 'right, we're spending the next 5/6 hours together' way and it was a good laugh - siege mentality maybe. That effort got me nowhere near the barrier, maybe middle-middle of the pit. I might do it again, really enjoyed it and didn't regret it - but would have to be something special (to me). Lots of good Pyramid stuff this year - expecting Lizzo & Elton to be rammed - but nothing I'll be making an effort for.
  4. Not done it - but you'll have twilight until 22:17 and it won't actually get to being 'night' - though I think the moon is against you, it won't be that big. Either way - bring a head torch, or the light on your phone at worst, if you have a decent idea of how to put your tent up then I would definitely go for it. What's the worst that could happen? Just make sure you don't wake up and discover you've put your tent right next to the toilets - that easy to find space had no tents for a reason 😄
  5. Lots to unpack - sounds like they are definitely spending less money, they are cutting areas and trying to move crowds about to different parts of the site on different days. Loads I want to see, but some of that includes bands that others have seen loads already and I've not gotten round to yet - e.g. AltJ & Hot Chip - and still a great chance I won't see them again. So I definitely get that some of the lineup probably looks underwhelming. Avalon - initial reaction was, that's a very Avalon lineup, but the more you looked at it the more there were some gems in there WH - weak headliners maybe, but loads of great stuff mid to lower SH & Shangri La - Apologies for lumping these together, my knowledge of both is zero and my perception of response to lineup is that they are above average Park - I'm looking at it thinking I'm going to End of the Road festival in a few months and Park has one of it's headliners just in the middle of the day - maybe not vintage or stacked overall but not terrible Woodsies - maybe above average? Pyramid headliners - been discussed to death, but definitely been worse years Given the assumed budget cuts I think they've probably done an amazing job
  6. Yeah - I suggested Chicks could be WH before that poster dropped and was told they're too big. Def not Acoustic!
  7. You got very lucky - 2016 was horrendous trying to get into the East side of the side, but West was relatively clear - they asked people to not set off if they hadn't already which meant if you could make it to the gates you walked straight in. Plus being a fairly wet year not too many were in the queue overnight - initial traffic issues were mainly campervans, but then escalated.
  8. That's what I was trying to describe, but you've done it a lot more clearly. Plus with the 5-7am arrival, after the gates open you remain in the queue a lot longer.
  9. I've slept in the queue at ages 38 & 40 - not sure yet about this year @ 44. What's the trek from Ireland like? I'm trying to get my head around comparing an overnight queue to time spent travelling. If I can set off at 8pm and be in the queue by 11pm, I am then doing a poor job of relaxing, staying warm and resting but not sleeping between 11pm and 6/7am Wednesday. Comparing overnight in the queue to trying to arrive 7am which I did several other years - up at 4am to set off by 5am, rubbish nights sleep before that because you're excited, it's in your own bed but it gets cut short. Someone with a 4/5 hour drive might set off at 2am to arrive in the queue at 6/7am (I'd rather be in the queue already than awake driving); Other people book a hotel to get near and then have sleep the night before in a proper bed (but not their own) - If they're aiming to get to the gates by 7am then they are paying for a bed which they're checking out of much earlier than they've paid for, and they probably still need to get up by 6am to get on the road by 6:30. That's just trying to think of a few scenarios where people try to arrive by 7am - which I think a very large number do. Obviously the real winners rock up after midday (or a week early if you're @Skip997 🙂), but comparing overnight queue to other methods of getting there by 7am - it seems okay to me (assuming dry and not too freezing!)
  10. Showing healthy signs outside of efestivals, I wouldn't worry about it 😄
  11. Cineramageddon tomorrow I reckon 😛
  12. I'm in the same boat 😄 I think the festival is always evolving - I get the impression it will be a busier, in part due to a few thousand more people and in part due to people stampeding from one set to the next (last year due to dry weather / people forgetting how much a festival takes it out of them), so more people constantly on the move seems busier. I think as drug-de-jour changes over time then that changes the vibe too. Looking forward to seeing if I notice any difference whatsoever!
  13. Yup, they get some decent smaller acts on there but I don't think I've ever managed to catch any of them, just hear on here of cool things I've missed afterwards
  14. Ah, is that the distinction about what makes it into the Thingy or not? or what section of the thingy at least...
  15. Very happy with Glade, Acoustic or Park - is there one for greenpeace?
  16. Presume Sat or Sun if Saw Doctors info (on mcd.ie) for Fri headliner is good? I think Glen Hansard is in there too - assume he might sub on the Friday for an Irish night?
  17. I think it's an assumption - the social media messages I think had FB responding saying he was Park - then the person replied again saying it would be great to see him headlining the Park - FB... no response <edit> qualify that with that although I think it's an assumption I think that FB is the bigger act, and JP a smaller stage than Park
  18. Huge place, be prepared to wander, be prepared to be overwhelmed, be prepared to relax for a bit and just sit and watch the world go by. Huge crowds in places - fireworks are usually split across 3 hills on the south side of the festival (look for wooden sculptures towards the top of hills and you're probably in the right place) - they get massively busy and if you find something else grabbing your attention really don't worry about it. 5 days of FOMO, so just get stuck into whatever you are doing, even if that's just have a sit or a wander, and don't worry about what you're not doing.
  19. You're not both wrong
  20. Would seem a massive shame if she was at Rock werchter and Roskilde and didn't make it to G. Looks like she's in Italy on Friday but free otherwise - so another Elton clash maybe - I'd have a lot to catch up on iplayer I think!
  21. My assumption is that stuff from the original festival poster not yet allocated (to woodsies, WH & generally known) should be distributed fairly evenly between Park, Other and Pyramid - so probably there should be more space across all those stages - but still guesswork so great to see peoples thoughts.
  22. Can only see listen-figures for her top 10 songs but call me maybe accounts for 45% of her activity across those ten songs. Important to remember that call me maybe's > 1 billion listens have been over 10+ years whereas 5 of the others are from last years album - accumulating activity volumes for much less time - so at worst half of her 16m monthly listens are for call me maybe, but probably a lot fewer. Sizeable chunk goes to Owl City too!

    Site Map 2023

yeah - looks more like the 2022 map now - so probably never was an actual change. Hopefully extra public camping in Pennards eases some of the congestion if some space lost just inside gate A (yes, still not ideal, but more people will try for something more central so hopefully leaves the more remote fields a bit quieter), and hopefully if they are changing the line of the wall around Pylon then that solves whatever crew camping issues they have. Looks like a little bit of parking space lost on both East and West sides of the festival - guess that might mean we have a slightly longer walk from the car 🙂

Festival Wall change to the left of Pylon Ground!!! Renumbering of parking fields 11 & 12 - 11 being half incorporated into Ecampervan fields - wonder if that's some of what was on sale earler?

Is this the first time we've seen the shape of 'the levels'? Looks substantial...
