  1. Were you allowed in on Wednesday by that point? I just recall it raining when I arrived on the Thursday and it still raining when I left on the Monday. Only things I can remember from 2007 in terms of acts was Iggy on the Other Saturday night and watching The Who on the Sunday. Everything has just been drowned out in my memory by the relentless thudding of rain onto my hood.
  2. Can’t wait for Friday night in Hammersmith. First gig in almost two years!
  3. You wait till you get into your 40’s son…
  4. Yes. Much worse. It just rained for five days straight with no let up whatsoever.
  5. Some guy turned up claiming that the Stone Roses were going to play and had ITK info to back it up. He provided a picture of a betting slip showing a £50 bet on the Roses, which our sleuths worked out had been photoshopped and was fake. The guy claimed his info came from famous radio DJ ‘Bob Harrison’. He was great.
  6. Of course! How could we forget??
  7. IIRC they were reluctant to come back so soon after the 2009 set.
  8. Think so, there was a lot of hope they’d be drafted in when the Foos dropped out.
  9. That explains their mysterious gig in Holland.
  10. Blur released Magic Whip and played Hyde Park that year. There was a lot of hope that they would be back.
  11. For a split second I thought Corbyn was back.
  12. Still chicken feed compared to the glorious 1,000 page rollercoaster that was the 2015 thread.
  13. 2008 was the only year I haven’t been since I first went in 04. In 2007 we went with a huge group, probably 30+, but many were first timers and I suspect the abject weather put many of them off. Few have returned since. For me and the rest of my mates there wasn’t the same hunger to go as previous years, we had been to three in a row and had been to Bennicassim in 06 and we were discussing sacking off Glasto and going either on a holiday or a foreign festival. As the festival drew closer and it hadn’t sold out I pushed my lot to go but nobody was really feeling it. As a compromise (and to shut me up) we ended up going to see Radiohead at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester, where Thom and the lads put on one of the greatest sets I’ve seen from any band, I mean look at this for a setlist! https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/radiohead/2008/old-trafford-cricket-ground-manchester-england-13d6bdcd.html
  14. Looks like a normal day in Scotland that…
  15. They’re playing Bristol on the Thursday I believe. My bet would be early doors in the JP on Friday, then a set in Williams Green later that evening.
  16. He has to be back at the home by four.
  17. Ladies and Gentlemen… I present the worst suggestion since “Adele will sub because she hates crowds”.
  18. I could get on board with that.
  19. There should always be, IMO, a first time headliner, and it should be as diverse a trio as possible in terms of genre/gender/race. The days of three lots of white lads with guitars is coming to an end, it's good to see the festival embracing rap and pop at the top end of the lineup. In terms of balance they should really be striving for a first timer, a currently huge act and a heritage act each year. I think they've got it spot on this year. You've got a pop megastar headlining her first UK festival, one of the hottest hip hop stars on the scene (if he gets an album out before the festival he could be even bigger) and a Beatle to round things off. You don't get much more balanced than that.
  20. It was a shock when the lad on the end was cancelled for being a closet Nazi.
  21. Yeah but the acts influencing newer acts today were probably influenced by the Beatles themselves.
  22. Date in Italy the Thursday before.
  23. Just have kids mate, then you never get to have a Saturday again.
